hand cream/miracle needed for dishpan hands!

They are not dry but look utterly shite- dd says they are Granny hands I am guilty of not using hand cream/gloves etc for washing and scrubbing or gardening and am paying the price now. Skin lacks elasticity, is wrinkly and I have the dreaded age spots starting ( I am 52)

I don't like that hemp one from Body shop or Neutrogena Norwegian Formula

Does anyone have one to recommend please? Don't want to go down the Madonna-with-gloves route

I don't think it matters which ones you use so long as you do and wear gloves for a bit - they soon sort themselves out and by using handcream you are effectively massaging them which is where most of the benefit comes from!!

double creamin works for me.
first a 'light' moisturiser (like your face cream) and when that has sunk in a richer cream (like nivea cream).
works well for my eczema on the hands.

Another vote for the Bert's Bees Hand Salve here. It smells quite menthol-y and is like a wax in the tin but as soon as you rub your fingers on it it melts. It's about £10 for a tin.

I spent several years working outdoors (with horses) and my hands still suffer now!

Try putting hand cream on before putting on washing up gloves and doing dishes. The heat of the water will help to absorb the cream.

Put it on before you go to bed, put single use gloves on for the night or mittens and wake up to babysit hands in the mornings.

Heals cuts and scrapes too. Best thing ever, and no additives or chemicals, just pure wool fat.

It sounds like you need barrier cream on during the day. Engineers, motor mechanics and plumbers use it. It has the same effect as wearing rubber gloves although you can't see it. I understand about the Body Shop Hemp but their Butter (cocoa?) is really nice it comes in a yellow pot and smells quite lemony. Failing that good old E45.

The best thing I ever used on my hands was Lanisoh, yes breastfeeding nipple cream. It works on cracked, sore nipples but I used it on my hands which were chapped to bits from washing and sterilising.

Expensive but excellent.

L'occitane Shea butter one. I buy the enormous tubes and they last forever. You need very little and run over the backs of your hands and nails first with only a tiny bit on your palms. But it's the only one j can use and still happily type/use an office phone etc
