What can I wear to be comfortable all day?

I'm trying to look after myself a bit more this year. I want some new clothes bit don't really know where to start. I'm 41, 5 foot 1 and a size 8. I tend to buy skinny jeans/trousers but I find them so uncomfortable. So I end up going back to my ancient pair of bootcut jeans, but even then as soon as I'm home it's straight into trackie bottoms. I'm feeling like such a slob. Ideally I'd like to wear tailored trousers but they're not very fashionable and I would feel very dowdy and middle aged. So what can I wear to look good but comfortable. Would really love some advice. Thanks.

I've never been much of a jeans wearer. like Twinke, I find dresses far more comfortable and most of the time I am a dress, tights, and over-the-knee boots/ankle boots/loafers.

Dresses don't have to mean dressy - sweater dresses, shift dresses, sweatshirt dresses, and loads of stylish casual dresses can be found in the shops.

Hush Harem trousers Expensive but really good ,wash well, dont bag or sag. I have all three colours now and wear them to work sometimes as well as outside work.

Hush is really good for relaxed but good quality clothes, expensive but worth it , (and they have a sale on now) I've never seen the harem trousers in the sale, but they do do discounts and voucher codes , I just got my last pair 20% off
