Boyfriend jeans - best ones?

Looking for a pair that are flattering. Love a slight loose fit without being overly baggy or unflattering in the bum and hip area! I am a pear shape. I just cant seem to find ones that flatter me. Recommendations please?

I've got the Next girlfriend jeans and love them. I struggle with jeans (also a pear shape) but Next and Gap seem to be the best fit for me in any style

Boyfriend jeans are probably not the best option for pears in general. Why not try girlfriend jeans if you like the relaxed feel but not so shapeless.

I like uniqlo's slim boyfriend ankle ones, but size down - I bought 28 but after a few wears they've loosened up quite a bit. Some washes are in the sale right now too.

Really like the uniqlo ones. I am a size 12 but cant seem to understand the waist sizes!!! They are huge!!! I mean if i were to measure my thin part of my waist, i am about a 29 inches or 30. However jeans dont sit that high up so what do i measure!!?

I have no idea of the difference between girlfriend and boyfriend!!!
I tend not to wear really short tops with jeans tbh so it kind of balances my shape out. I dont have huge hips, just a bit shapely. However i dont want to look mumsy iykwim. That is my idea of hell in jeans!!!

Girlfriend jeans are a slimmer cut - I have absolutely thrashed a pair of GF jeans this past twelve months, and wish I could find the exact same pair in a darker blue without the rips.

If you're able to get into the shops, it's probably an idea to try a few different pairs on, in case you decide you really do prefer the BF cut.

I so wish we had Gap, or that they shipped here...

I think you need to be careful with these tapered ankle styles as a pear shape though as I think they can make your arse/hips look wider! I've put on weight so wearing them with longer tops than I was previously and hopefully getting away with it! Hmm

I don't understand one poster saying that boyfriend jeans aren't the best option for a pear shape and girlfriend are better - slimmer cut just means I can't get my arse into them!

I need new jeans for a holiday in a month but as I'm at a very awkward size and shape I'm not holding out much hope of getting anything decent.

lorelei9 - I am not pear-shaped so I could be wrong. But since pear shaped usually are bigger in the bottom, a slouchy, no-shape pair of jeans might make the legs shorter/bigger, and hide the pear's womanly shape. That's why I suggested girlfriend jeans, which are roomy, but a slimmer fit than the typical slouchy boyfriend jeans that usually suit boyish body type.

frieda - I don't think I understand all these names for jeans.

I am bigger in the bum but that's why I can't fit in a slimmer fit jean IYSWIM? Either I go up a size or my arse doesn't fit.

so an overall slouchy jean, while being shapeless, can at least be bought in the right size.

lorelei - girlfriend jeans are like boyfriends, only slimmer in the thigh area, just like the boyfriend jeans recommended for pears in this article :)

frieda - yes, slimmer in the thigh area but I guess it depends how far your pear shape goes down - for me it's bum and tops of thighs so the right size girlfriend jean will fit fine at the lower thigh but not the upper.

I actually haven't worn jeans since I gained weight (I'm now losing the weight) because it's such a nightmare to sort them. I don't know why jeans are so much more problematic to sort than regular trousers (which are pretty easy).

lorelei9 - I have no experience dressing a pear body shape so I was just basing it on articles and blogs and my friend who's very pear-shaped and she says the worst jeans for her are boyfriend jeans because they make her bigger than she really is. She likes bootcuts and flares. But maybe it's a case-to-case basis.

I have read though (from blogs and here in MD) that Levis make fantastic jeans for pears called Demi Curve.

The gap gf ones didn't work for this pear sadly. The whole point of this style imo is to be slouchy, I may as well wear skinnies if I wanted them slim on the thighs.

Pixie, the actual garment size charts on the website are way more helpful than the sizes! Try a 27 or 28 if you're a 12 I reckon.
