Do you think you're slim/average/big?

Where do you buy your clothes?

Put another stone on, and you can join the rugby team Wink We either need 12 more Amazonian MNers, or everyone else on this thread to eat more chips!

GarlicBake · 10/01/2016 01:46

Sorry, that was to fried!

TheToys · 10/01/2016 01:53

Thanks, Garlic Grin

venusinscorpio · 10/01/2016 01:55

I am 5'6 and a half. 12/14. I am an hourglass shape. Jeans (skinny) have to be 14, can sometimes get away with 12 skirt. I rarely wear trousers except for lounging around at home because I have big hips and a big bum (though reasonably pert, thankfully!).

I am 36E so for any structured top I need a 14 and even then sometimes not a good fit so not suitable (don't really want to go up to 16 as it is generally too voluminous in other areas). If it's a stretchy fitted top I normally get a 12 as my waist is relatively small, and i tend to layer up with cardi, scarf etc so the effect isn't quite so boobalicious! Dresses usually 14 but sometimes 12. I sometimes buy a tall size as it gives more room in the torso area. Always buy cup sized swimwear. I have size 5 feet.

friedafilmer · 10/01/2016 02:02

Oh I have been an 18 too. I actually was most of my life until I got down to 12-14 in 2014 then gained weight and now approaching 16. lol. I think you're right - a size is equivalent to a stone.

I am a rectangle shape. Linebacker shoulder, big arms, no boobies, flat butt, narrow hips but to break the string of bad body luck, I fortunately have long nice legs.

And here's to us MN rugby team!

CaptainWarbeck · 10/01/2016 02:12

I'm a 8/10 depending where I shop. Zara always have the best jeans, nice and long but fit well too.

CorBlimeyTrousers · 10/01/2016 08:13

Ha ha Garlic! When it was the London Olympics the BBC website had a thing where you could enter your stats and find out the Olympic athlete you were most similar to. IIRC mine was a member of the Italian mens shooting team ...

TimeToMuskUp · 10/01/2016 08:18

I'm a 14 and 38E. My shape is odd; I have no backside at all, it's just flat, long, slim legs, broad shoulders and hips but flat stomach. It's a weird sort of body, not normal for a woman at all. I quite like it.

With work I can get down to a 10/12. It's not worth it, though, because then I can't eat chocolate orange for breakfast and that just makes me sad.

Sirona · 10/01/2016 08:22

8-10 usually, moving more towards a 10 since I've put nearly a stone on the last year, but it looks better on me so I'm not complaining. I probably wouldn't look so skinny if I actually had boobs as I'm quite curvy on the bottom half. For shirts though I have to take a 12 or small mens shirts. Combination of broad shoulders, long arms and long body. Fitted shirts are out as they always look too small.

SlinkyB · 10/01/2016 08:28

Size 14 mostly, sometimes a 12 top vanity sizing hourglass-ish shape. Since having two kids carry most of my weight on my tummy. Size 34F norks.

I do feel chubby, and would love to lose a few pounds and get down to a 12, but would have to restrict a lot of my favourite things so would probably be miserable.

Get most of my clothes in Sainsbury's or Asda whilst doing the food shopping Blush I hate clothes and clothes shopping, and find fashion boring. If I could, I'd be a nudist!!

BathtimeFunkster · 10/01/2016 08:34

Well I'm 5'5 (and a very important half)" at the moment.

When I finish growing and finally attain my proper height I'll be back to tell you my dress size.

TwllBach · 10/01/2016 08:40

At my thinnest I was a size 8 on too and 12 on bottom. I'm hourglass shaped and it was hell to maintain though - to look at me I was tiny. If I the dress was empire line I could wear a six.

I've been up to an 18/20 but this summer had managed to work it off to the point where I was a dress size 12 and was happy. Or happy ish... Was working on maybe dropping one more... Now im24 weeks pregnant and am just FAT Grin

AliensInUnderpants12 · 10/01/2016 08:47

I'm 5'7 and currently weigh 9 stone 9lbs. I'm dieting though and aiming to reach 9 stone exactly as I have a spare tyre!

On a recent clothes shopping trip I can wear size 12 trousers in h&m and a size 10 shirt in Next.

junebirthdaygirl · 10/01/2016 08:54

Aliens l don't know how you need a 12 at 9 9. I'm 5'6" and 11 6 and l wear 14. At 11 stone l would drop to a 12. If l was your weight l would be an 8. I was that for years but children and menopause have robbed me of it. It's funny how shapes go. I have a tiny bust so maybe that explains it. I'm probably happier with my size now than love ever been in my life.

carrie74 · 10/01/2016 09:47

I'm 5'6.5", weigh about 9 stone, am an athletic build (ie no curves anywhere), and am pretty consistently a 10/S and a 2/4 in the U.S. (I buy quite a lot there when on holiday).

I buy a lot from US stores here too as I find they usually have a high quotient of natural fabrics, so Gap, J Crew etc. used to like Zara but fed up with poor quality and weird fits. Designer jeans that ALWAYS fit like a glove. Me&Em (although not as much recently).

60sname · 10/01/2016 10:19

I'm just under 5'7" and take a 10-12. I mostly shop at H&M, with some Gap, Topshop, New Look, French Connection thrown in.

junebirthdaygirl it is possible to take a size 12 at a lower weight if you have a wide pelvis (I am 8st 12lb) - unfortunately, giving birth a few months ago seems to have widened mine further.

GrinAndTonic · 10/01/2016 10:53

Well due to a combination of medication, laziness and Lindt balls I am now a size 18/20. I was a perfect hourglass shape but now have a large barrel shape.

I shop from at Boden, monsoon, new look, joules to name a few.

Squeegle · 10/01/2016 11:01

Hi
I'm size 14. Long legs, small backside, fat tummy! Fat face jeans are good, I have trouble getting the right length trousers. Usually just a bit too short. And shirts often look too short on me too, although white stuff are good, and their skirts have a nice broad waist Smile

I was a 10-12 mostly until kids, which was better really

friedafilmer · 10/01/2016 11:03

I think most of my height is in my legs (not that I am complaining) because while jeans/trousers are usually short, I never had any problems with short tops.

OP posts:
allnewdiamonddealer · 10/01/2016 12:55

I'm 5'7" and a size 14/16. I was a 14 just before Christmas but am creeping back up towards a 16 again. Back on the bloody diet! My height is mostly in my torso I have a big space between the bottom of my ribs and my pelvis and I find tops are often too short (I hate my back and kidneys being exposed I have definitely turned into my mother!) but most jeans fit with a normal leg length although out of habit I tend to buy long length. My legs are where I carry most of my excess weight they are very chunky. I buy a lot of jeans from M&S and tops mostly from Next. Vest tops come from Primark as they are nice and long.

dementedma · 10/01/2016 12:58

Size 14/16 here too. Need to lose a stone at least.

Flingingmelon · 10/01/2016 13:10

10-12 (usually 12) and fairly well proportioned. Shop all over the place, I've never really struggled with trouser lengths etc. Most fit models for high street stores are around 5'7.

friedafilmer · 10/01/2016 20:59

Nice to know the variation in sizes for the same height. I'm almost 5'8", 13 stone 2, and would like to lose two stones at least. I would like to get down to a 12 in dress size. Not sure how realistic that is given how large my body frame is, but hey. :)

I have small chest, and shorter upper body so my tops usually come from a teenage shop here (Dotti). I find their biggest size perfect for my shape.

I recently bought a dress from Asos that I adore. It's a skater dress that I am contemplating buying a backup of.

OP posts:
TheToys · 10/01/2016 21:48

I'm a bit under 11 stone (69 kg) and a size 14. Always surprised when people vary so much in size at the same weight! I think I am quite wide, so that makes me bigger, although I have smallish boobs.

TheToys · 10/01/2016 21:52

I buy a lot from Primark, Dotty P, Topshop, River Island, Next and Asos. New Look and Zara (especially the latter) seem to have a narrow fit and long legs, which is bad for me.
