I have googled and googled but keep getting galleries of images of thin women with incredible bone structure and claims that their haircuts suit a fat face

So, tell me: what haircuts genuinely flatter a fat face? A face that might,if you were being a bit unkind (or my nana), be described as jowly? Bearing in mind that the hair to be cut is very, very thick, wayward (double crown so parts of it grow in insane directions), dries wavy to curly when not straightened into submission?
Help! I haven't been to a hairdresser in about 6 years, I've just been trimming it myself and have even done the mumsnet haircut, but now I need an actual, real style. But I have no idea what to ask for...
