Finally accepted I am ageing... can someone recommend a good foundation?

I have been in denial for a few years now.... But this week I had to have my photo taken for work, and the results were horrifying. My skin is soft to the touch, but the appearance is another matter altogether. It looks like tree bark! There are age spots, wrinkles and the complexion is totally uneven.

I could cry, but instead I have decided to accept this is nature, and use it as an excuse to treat myself to a good foundation.

The problem is I am clueless. Despite being 37, up until now have managed to avoid using a foundation (except for very special occasions when I use Lancome Teint Miracle, which is nice but heavy). Does any have any recommendations for something I can use to cover up during the day? Ideally it needs to be light, easy to use, and good at covering tree bark skin. I can probably stretch to a max of £30. (I have tried Bobbi Brown BB Cream and it just made my skin look worse as do all BB creams). Thanks in advance!

Ha I had the same thing happen to me after seeing wedding photos this autumn, when I realised that I look much older than I think I do (I'm 37 as well).
I don't have huge experience of makeup but the foundation I've been using daily for the past few months is Givenchy's Teint Couture www.makeupalley.com/product/showreview.asp/ItemId=165016/Teint-Couture-Long-Wearing-Fluid-Foundation-Broad-Spectrum-SPF-20/Givenchy/Liquid

(I see that Sali Hughes of The G has mentioned Givenchy's Teint Couture Balm as the best make up thing of 2015)

It is brilliant, not very heavy and I don't feel caked in. Admittedly I only need a little bit for evening out the complexion, and three little dots is plenty to cover my face. It doesn't cover any spots though so I have to use a concealer for those.
