Losing weight and buying nice clothes.

I didn't really know where to put this, it might be better in the weight loss area but for now it's here.

I have bought (in the sale) a gorgeous blazer, it fits very snugly but my plan is to lose some weight this year, maybe one or two (max) sizes. Will this make my beautiful blazer unwearable? How many sizes can you lose before affecting clothes? It's a winter thing so obviously I will wear it with a jumper underneath. What do you think? I can't change the blazer for a different size.

In my experience, some things look fine regardless. I have diesel jeans that have fitted when i have been a 14, look better as a 12 and nice and comfy in a 10!!!!
However i think with a blazer, it may be difficult because of the shoulders. I am in the same position as you although my weight loss is really slow just now. I have bought a leather skirt in a 12. Although i am currently a 12, i want it to sit lower so think it will look better when i am a 10 really.
Generally, you can go down one size and most things look ok. 2 sizes depends upon the garment and how fitted around your body it is.
Also there is the mental thing. I tend to not want to wear a 14 when i have lost weight!!!!

I would keep it, as you say you can always put a thick jumper under it. Can you link to it?

Especially in the case of coats and jackets, you can wear them until you have lost sufficient weight for them to look "big", and then just have them altered to fit you in your new size.

Blazers tend to alter very well.

I'm a 14 now but have a couple of things in sizes 16 and even 18.
I had lots of stuff altered but not my jackets.

I think it depends where you tend to lose weight from and what your body shape is. For me as a H shape (apple when bigger) I tend to lose weight from my bottom half first as my bone structure across my shoulders/ribs etc is broad naturally- so a jacket wouldn't be too big for an age.

Thank you for the replies, it's not exactly a blazer even though I said it was it's more of a coat, but it's very fitted over the shoulders like a blazer is.

And it's a fact that the weight I will lose ha ha ha ha will all come from my hips, my top half is okayish.

So I feel a bit more confident, thanks.
