As per the title, I really don't know much about sorting my hair out. I bought DD the expensive pro curl thing but she has already gone home so I cannot scrounge borrow it to try it out.

To make my hair look half decent, I wash and dry it straight then run the straighteners through it to tidy it up. It's shoulder length with a few long layers. I've considered one of those stylers with rotating barrels. Any good?

All suggestions gratefully received.

Yes, I've got a Babyliss Big Hair styler with revolving barrel - love it.

I've got thick, shoulder-length hair with an annoying curl and a tendency to frizz if left to dry naturally.
I struggle with a heavy dryer and brush; the styler is so easy once you get to grips with it. It lifts and smooths really well, with just a quick run through with the straighteners afterwards if necessary.
I bought the slightly smaller barrel size which seems to 'fit' my hair better than the larger one my friend had.
(I think there are still 2 different ones?)

You can curl your hair with straighteners. There are loads of videos online.

Yes, it's got 2 heat settings and forward/reverse buttons for revolving the brush. Its a bit of trial & error to start with (I went all out with the revolving bit and ended up resembling Doris Day!) It's good fun though!

I usually let my hair dry slightly first, then it takes no time; it's very easy.

Off to buy one today. Any other suggestions?

I bought my daughter the GHD wand for Christmas and she thinks is fab and easy to use. 😀

Tresemme air styler for me.
I'm useless at blow drying but with this I have a short sleek bob which gets compliments.
I think it's different from BB one, mine has comb like teeth rather than brush bristles. Less chance of tangles.
Depending on your hair, rough drying with hair dryer first speeds up process
