Just wondering a few things really - i fancied some prescription sunglasses, i wear glasses when driving and reading, and so can't do either of the above with sunglasses on when it's sunny at the moment.

They seem to offer a choice of grey, brown or green tint in their sunglasses - how do i know which one i want?!? Is one more normal than the others?

Any other advice on ordering glasses online? I have a recent, fairly simple (i think!) prescription (i have a slight astigmatism, is that simple?). Any pitfalls i should avoid? Tia.

Not ordered sunglasses but have bought ordinary glasses with quite a complicated prescription and was very pleased with the service and the glasses , would definetly order from them again.

I've used them to buy varifocal glasses and was very happy with service and glasses themsleves.

After I had my eyes lasered, I needed a different prescription just for night driving. I sent the frames back and they put new lenses in.

Their try at home service is really good.

Thoroughly recommended

Yes and I can heartily recommend them. You can select up to 4 frames to try at home before you commit to ordering a pair. Excellent service.

And just so you are prepared, I had to send them a pair of my old glasses so they could check the position of my pupils. Apparently this info is rarely on the prescription you get from your optician.

Pileofstuffatthebottomofthesta · 29/12/2015 20:01

Yes. I ended up returning my pair as the frame was too wide for my face and got a full refund. Excellent customer service

DH used Shade Station I think for normal prescription glasses and was very pleased. He got some very expensive designer fram6ea for a fraction of the price.

The do ask for pupillary distance but there's a free programme that uses your webcam to do it for you.

DiscoSpider · 29/12/2015 20:29

I got my prescription sunglasses from there. I went with brown because I usually wear brown lensed quid specials from Primark ones.
I was super impressed with them. Also found some lovely frames that I couldn't have got on the high street.

BlueBlueBelles · 29/12/2015 20:29

I've used select specs for my sunglasses and highly recommend them

I have used them to put new lenses into expensive designer frames . I was very happy with the service and would use them again .

Oldisthenewblack · 30/12/2015 01:07

I've used them several times and have been extremely happy with the service and the glasses. I've only ever used them when combining discounts so have twice had two pairs of glasses for less than £25 Grin

I don't know what the difference between sunglasses tints is - I had a brown tint in mine and can only say that it gives a lovely glow to everything. I chose the brown as my glasses were tortoiseshell and brown just seemed to go better.

As Watto1 said, it's important to know your pupillary distance and the opticians don't put this on your prescription (I'm outraged at this!) but occasionally if you have a helpful optician they may agree to tell you. You have a right to know as it's a vital part of your prescription.

They often have sales, 2for1, 50% off etc, so register with them and you should receive emails with any offers they have on.

This is all very reassuring, thanks very much!

Also, I have astigmatism, and that didn't cause any problems when inputting the prescription. If you have any problems doing it online, just give them a ring, they've always been very helpful. Good luck!

I got some from there, they are great. I ordered grey tint in a black frame but I didn't like them so sent back and got grey graduated tint instead. The graduated tint is worth the extra in my opinion. The regular tints are a solid opaque block of colour.
