Please help me find a boring (but nice) towelling dressing gown!

I just want a towelling dressing gown, so I can get out the bath and put it on and feel all cosy while I get dry. I do not want a fleecy one. I've had one of those and it feels all wrong when it gets wet, like being wrapped in soggy cotton wool.
I've googled and most of the search results are not towelling at all. I don't want white (they get grubby quickly). I don't want a unisex or one-size-fits-all-one. Or to pay luxury spa money. And I'm not an old lady either so if it could be somehow less than dowdy that would be a bonus. My last one was lilac and had a Little Miss character on it (I'm not 4 either, it was from La Senza), but that was bought many years ago and is tatty beyond use now.
I'm not well today and suddenly it feels really important to find one that I can snuggle up into. Please help!

That's polyester cotton though.

GinBunny · 28/12/2015 14:40

Is it the polyester that's the problem Swedish? Do I need something that's just cotton? Sorry if that's a stupid question Blush

Yes, if you want to use it for drying yourself out of the bath / shower, 100% cotton will be much more absorbent. If it's just for using a a dressing gown, poly cotton would be OK.

SwedishEdith · 28/12/2015 15:29

Yes, agree, just go for 100% cotton. Sweaty fleecy ones are 100% polyester.

GinBunny · 28/12/2015 15:50

Oh I see... Well, that'll make my search a bit easier than squinting at the screen to see what the fabric looks like Xmas Blush

Google pip studio - I got mine from John Lewis but a few years ago now. There will be other stockists other than fig leaves I think...

CointreauVersial · 28/12/2015 22:14

Just been to John Lewis and picked up this gorgeous number, but in a turquoise colourway. I was going to buy a more classic design, but the fox one was so velvety and colourful, I couldn't resist.

They had a great selection on sale, but make sure you go to the linen/towel department - the ones in lingerie were the fleecy type.

I won't get to wear it until my birthday in a month's time. Oh well.

BagelSuffragette · 30/12/2015 15:40

Just picked up the John Lewis one (linked to earlier). 100% cotton, feels thick and good fit. £19.50 inc £2.50 delivery to local Waitrose for pick-up. Bargain! Thanks lovely Mumsnetters

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 30/12/2015 16:30

Brilliant! I haven't picked up my House of Fraser one yet (Storm Frank meant postponing trip to town!) but it was a close call between it and the John Lewis one. Glad it's as good as it looked online.

Wigeon · 05/01/2016 11:44

Dunelm one has arrived - very happy with it (especially as it was only £27.99, which compares well to others). It's quite huge though (in size S-M) with big sleeves, so might swamp someone shorter than me (5'8").

Glitteryfrog · 05/01/2016 12:24

White company.
I've got a brown with a hood... I look like a jedi.

KnockMeDown · 05/01/2016 12:27

Another one delighted to have found this thread, and I am seriously considering the Birds of Paradise one. However, am a little concerned it is not as long as the others - how have others found it?

Oldraver · 05/01/2016 13:36

OH my, I really want the Pip studio one It matches my wallpaper

Oldraver · 05/01/2016 13:44

The Granny pip one looks nice as well and looks longer, though I have always liked the Pip design flowers

When I clicked on the link I'm sure I had a flas of a pink colourway but cant find it as an option on Figleaves...did anyone else see this ?

I now this design has several colurways so going off now to see if I wa simagining it

Oldraver · 05/01/2016 13:47

The whole lot here

Twinklestar2 · 05/01/2016 14:12

This was me last year! I searched and searched and couldn't find anything suitable.

in the end, I randomly spotted one in the Habitat section of our local Homebase. It was £18 down from £60. Bargain. Try Habitat!

SauvignonPlonker · 05/01/2016 20:39

I saw a lovely white towelling robe in the Laura Ashley sale - £30 down from £60.

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 05/01/2016 20:47

Just collected my House of Fraser one finally - it's lovely and soft, cosy and long, but not as thick towelling as my old one - I'm delighted with it at £36 but think I'd have been miffed if I'd paid the full price (£120!)

Shantotto · 07/01/2016 10:23

Have to bump this as I'm looking for a new dressing gown. Made the mistake of buying a super soft dressing gown - it's far too hot, clammy and smelly. Blush

Problem I have is I'm 6ft and I want one that is ankle length of possible. I normally buy from Long Tall Sally but they don't have any.

Any ideas?!

lavendersun · 07/01/2016 11:45

I bought 6'3" DH one of these shantotto, he has got long arms too and it is plenty long enough, everywhere.

Nicer quality and much thicker than my White Co one.

salthepal · 22/01/2016 07:56

How are you getting on wth the Dunelm one? Mixed reviews regarding fit!

hugoagogo · 22/01/2016 08:24

La redoute is good for this sort of thing here
