Back from a delicious afternoon tea where, of course, I ate too much. I particularly liked the pane cotta (sp?) topped with salted caramel. We had a round table for the 14 of us so everyone was able to socialise properly.

I haven't seen Star Wars either, but would very much like to, if we can find the time.

CointreauVersial · 01/01/2016 19:25

Yum, NU, I love a bit of salted caramel. Sounds like it was a lovely occasion.

Here, we have a male/female split regarding Star Wars. The girls couldn't care less.

I have done nothing all day, which has been quite marvellous. Meanwhile, DH has become hooked on Desperate Housewives of New Jersey. Grin His capacity for trash TV knows no bounds.

Collymollypuff · 01/01/2016 19:39

I imagine Cameron needs a vast supply of such fleeces for Klosters and other upmarket ski resorts.

Pannecotta (sp??) is often the sole gluten free desert choice on any menu, so we eat a lot of it in restaurants. That and crème brulee.

Happy New Year to all Crepeys, and especially to lurkers/new members, if I may say so, being still fairly new meself. Blush We were saying at the last meet-up that we hope to meet you in real life, if you can come to a meet-up in 2016. I find it helps me to keep up with the thread once I can put faces to names; easier to remember all the details about dc, gdc, pils, etc. I was delighted to meet MontserratCaballe for the first time. Thanks

bigTillyMint · 01/01/2016 19:40

Yes, NU, it sounds like a great idea for a family NYday.

DH and I went for a walk in BP and then coffee in a lovely little coffee shop as the café was shut. DS's mates have now gone, but DD's bf is still hereSmile

Stropperella · 01/01/2016 20:26

Yo crepeys! I have packed Christmas away, whilst suppressing some odd melancholia and anxiety about how things may be by the next time I unpack Christmas again. Noooo, none of the depresso-January cobblers for me. I shall pull myself together and think positive thoughts about, um, positive things, although I shall also be remaining realistic about the likelihood of immediate positive outcomes in some areas .
So sorry to hear about your missing friend, NU. Has there been any news?
herbs, lovely ring!
Northface - the choice of middle-aged, middle class outdoor sports enthusiasts round here. Dd's coats of choice are 2 of my old ones - a slightly battered black Belstaff-alike and a fitted green Berghaus. Although I note she has also recently borrowed my old M&S parka. Coz the pockets are big enough to fit a wine bottle in, apparently. At least all this coat borrowing means I have no guilt about buying new ones for myself. Grin
I had a restrained NY eve, so am merely suffering from a lack of sleep. Dd fell asleep this afternoon after returning from her "disappointing" party at about 2pm, and having a moan about "gross randoms wanting to kiss you just because the date's changed".

MrsS, am looking forward to seeing your scandalous stories televised. Grin
BD - relaxxxxxxx.
CV, glad to know I'm not the only crepey with a penchant for just dance. Sounds as though your NY eve was a blast.
BTM, so sorry to hear about your dm Sad
We only got rid of ds's sleepover guest this afternoon. I reckon this will def be the last year that any of ds's mates turn up for a sleepover with their teddy (and I've a feeling this one was supposed to be undercover).

GiddyGiddyGoat · 01/01/2016 20:37

Really BTM, do you think the teddy days are over? Ds1 never goes anywhere without his Rabbit... Grin

Here it was lunch out with BIL and family followed by - you guessed it - Star Wars, which was surprisingly great!
Feeling a tad fragile this morning and have retired to the sofa with lashings of tea and Coronation Street. X

motherinferior · 01/01/2016 20:47

Dd1 is yet to have a sleepover without Duckduck.Smile

We went out for lunch with good friends, came back for more of DP's Star Wars marathon, ate egg and chips suggested by me and cooked by DP, and are gearing up for Sherlock.

He's off for a week of The Martial Art That Dare Not Speak Its Name on Monday. We will survive though the Inferiorettes don't know I'm planning to cook vegan food that week. Grin(It will be nice food.)

hattymattie · 01/01/2016 20:53

We are all congregated for Sherlock - I have Baileys.Smile

Rosebag · 01/01/2016 21:06

Thats interesting. dS2 is insisting that we sit together and watch Sherlock. Is it some sort of cult programme? Is it because of the cumberbatch?

We are all back at Rosebag Towers, us after a very quick run with no pit stop as nothing was open (resulting in crossed legs) and DS2 after staying with friends over night following not one but two NYE parties. dS1 popped in to say hello and this reminded me that it's perilously close to his departure for 6 months down under Shock

Right...lets see what this Sherlock fuss is all about.....

Stropperella · 01/01/2016 21:11

Blimey, both dd and ds stopped taking Very Important Toys to sleepovers when they were about 8. The VITs would not have been safe from having terrible indignities inflicted on them by other sleepover participants.

Stropperella · 01/01/2016 21:13

I do not like the Cumberbatch. He looks as though he should live in a sandy burrow.

bigTillyMint · 01/01/2016 21:59

DS had cloffie (very manky muslin square) on the holiday in Thailand when his voice broke 2 weeks after his 12th birthday!
DD had Bonnie Bunny till about secondary school IIRC, but she still has her thumb (which she started ducking in the womb - as seem on scan!)

DH, DD snd I are watching Ben Fogle on catchupSmile

bigTillyMint · 01/01/2016 22:00

I'm not a Cumberbatch fan either - eeeuuuwww!

BeachysFlipFlops · 01/01/2016 22:07

Dd1(18) just walked in with her blanky!

Auriga · 01/01/2016 22:59

Happy New Year Smile

Both Dh and I still have our childhood cuddly of choice.Blushon view I should say.
In The New Order ( when I finally repaint, we shall live like Scandinavians in white airy rooms. Items of sentimental and operational ( those damn cables Hatty) will magically be banished. Meh.
I can bloody dream,,,

Sherlock has run its course imho -too much Cumberbatch is A Bad Thing. Not my cup of espresso either.
More work today. And tomorrow. Then panto is finally over and I can curl up in a corner.Confused

hattymattie · 02/01/2016 08:48

Well - I enjoyed Sherlock until they started tripping between the present and the past whereupon I became confused (easily done). Agree it's probably run it's course. I loved the first six episodes, then it went wacky. I thought tonight's was going to be good old fashioned Victorian melodrama. I think Cumberbatch is cool, has a thing but he doesn't bowl me over like he does some people.

Right, I am going to waken DD1 and friend as we do have stuff to do and cannot lose a morning waiting for sleeping teenagers.

NUFC69 · 02/01/2016 09:09

Question is, should I watch Sherlock on catch up? Cumberbatch leaves me cold, but I do think he is an excellent actor. I enjoyed watching him in "Tinker, Tailor", although I thought the original series was much better.

It is Stygian gloom here and heavy rain so extremely depressing. No news of friend. I knew her family very well: lovely people. I can't believe that we chatted on Christmas Eve after the carol service.

I love all the talk of teddies and cuddly toys. I lost my teddy when I left him on a train when we went to Margate (scarred for life).

Off fabric searching when DH comes back from badminton.

herbaceous · 02/01/2016 09:33

I discovered my cuddly in the loft, where it still remains. Can't bear to throw it out, or for DS to sneer at it, but don't 'need' it out. DS has 48 of the things in his bed, so can quite well imagine at least a couple of them making it through to adult-hood.

Have been feeling v odd, crepeys. Woke up yesterday in foul mood, then became increasingly anxious, with sweaty head, pounding heart, etc. Felt a bit better after eating some food, but not entirely right in myself today either. Hope it's merely down to a combination of too much continuous boozing, dehydration and some crazy emotional stuff from family worries. And starting work again on Monday and having not one clue what to do.

hattymattie · 02/01/2016 09:33

I wouldn't bother NU. I'm waiting for War and Peace on Sunday Smile

Lalsy · 02/01/2016 09:37

I thought the same as Hatty - I enjoyed it till they started switching, at which point it became Dr Who. I ended with no idea what had actually happened. I did really enjoy the first bit though.

NU, so sorry about your friend, her poor family.

hattymattie · 02/01/2016 09:41

Herbs - I always take to fizzy water when I feel like this in the delusion that it is purifying me or summat. Also I think our bodies' need routine and the twilight zone between Christmas and New Year is not good at all. I'll be glad in a way to get back to the rhythm of work/school etc.

herbaceous · 02/01/2016 10:19

I'm a fan of the fizzy water effect also, hattie! I know I must be dehydrate, as. Got up this morning after nine hours in bed and didn't need a wee!

As for Sherlock, it's got so self-referential it's disappearing up its own fundament. I too thought last nights episode was going to be an actual mystery, but it turns out to be another exploration of sherlock's genius. Yawn.

Rosebag · 02/01/2016 10:21

I fell asleep during Sherlock but agree with NU ...that our Benedict doesn't turn me on but is an excellent actor. The whole thing was a bit Dr Who, don't you think?

dS2 still has his blanket..but never takes it away if staying with friends or on a school trip. DD has her beloved One Direction dolls which accompany us around the world, she never had a comfort blanket but the One Direction dolls replaced Pooh, Tigger and Pop who also went everywhere. and she still sucks her thumb Blush

NU that's so awful about your friend. Sad

cremo does this mean your trip is imminent? Our Xmas show goes on until the middle of Jan !!

herbs sounds like a combination of stress and alcohol withdrawal. Be kind to yourself. Flowers

Ok...usual Saturday punctuated by two shows for DS and one for DD. DM and Ds1 are watching tonight. DM is back from trip to Majorca with DBro and family. A bit tearful at times but doing ok. Gearing up for back to school and the alarm going off at bloody 6.15 am. Hmm I am rejoining SW on line to get back on the straight and narrow. Anyone care to join me?
