Are these shoes hideous or not?

I lusted after a similar pair a year ago from Clarks (same style but oxblood patent leather with tweed insets!) and now these ones are in the sale at a mega discount.

DS1 says they look like clown's shoes and DS2 says they are weird. What do you think oh wise ones? I am thinking for work with tapered smart trousers or a short straight skirt and opaques?

Well as suspected shoes were not good and are going back. They weren't that bad actually, and really suited DD, but I think I might get the piss ripped out of me if I wore them.

Bagged two pairs of boots in the sale too and sadly one pair were nice but soooo tight on my fat calves; the other pair were just a bit odd and I decided not worth £60. Sigh. Still on the hunt for a good sale shoe bargain then...

I've just bought these inky blue brogues from Doc Martens.

Like those :)

Like their brown buckle boots too tho not available in my size...

Diane Keaton looks effortless stylish in brogue style shoes.

The ones first pictured will make you look like Bustin Keaton!

Sorry! There are far nicer brogues out there.

Grin at Diane Keaton vs Buster Keaton. So true.

However, I'm going to go against the rest of the thread and say that I like the tweedy ones. I'm coming round to brogues. Had a lovely pair of loafers in the Clarks sale.

BestIsWest · 30/12/2015 11:30

These I do like.

pictish · 30/12/2015 11:30

Not my scene...I'm not a fan of the brogue. I suppose on the right person with the right ensemble they might look chic...but I'm not into that sort of style of clothing.

Both in the sale and very cheap and also have rubber sole which is better for grip as many brogue Styles are very smooth soled and I would always advise getting adding a grippy rubber sole for safety.

OP I agree the shoe sales are mostly guff. I went shopping for biker boots yesterday hoping to bag a bargain, but every sale item that had some potential also had something unforgivably wrong about them too. I ended up paying full price for the perfect pair. I never seem to do well in shoe sales.

pictish · 30/12/2015 11:41

P.s Maybe I am too picky.

Greengardenpixie · 30/12/2015 13:00

I have bought the ones at the top. They are lovely. I love hamble oaks. I dont like the tweed ones. Mine cost me £24. They look good with skirts, dresses and trousers. I will tend to wear mine to work. I love love love the ribbon laces!!!

Greengardenpixie · 30/12/2015 13:03

IMO hamble oaks only look good with a knee or above the knee dress or skirt.
