wispy hair

I've had my hair cut in to a long bob and am also trying to wean off washing it every day. It's still getting greasy though, or fluffy with dry shampoo, so it's up a lot. For some reason I just cannot seem to achieve the messy ponytail look or the sleek pony tail look and instead look like 6-month old with wispy baby hair. Can any recommend any styles for someone v unskilled at doing hair?

Sorry no help, but I'm in exactly the same boat and it sucks! I seem to be forever growing new hair, so have a constant "pube fringe" as my dh calls it

I have shoulder length fine hair; it looks lank down and wispy and frizzy up Only tip I have is wash it every-other day, and only put conditioner on the ends.

Will be watching with interest!

I think you'd look nice with some pretty hairclips.

Sparkly for now , and more summery in the warmer months.

Put them just above your ears and pull up slightly. The way you have your hair parted will work really nicely for that.

I always dry my hair upside down too! Can't imagine wearing any clips (I'm 34, and quite a plain dresser).

Why must we be cursed with whispy new hair around our temples hey?! Whhhyyyyyy?!

I have the baby fluff-hair too! I use Elasticizer and it's helping, and my hair is less fluffy-looking. And Klorane's dry shampoo is better than Batiste (on my hair at least).

I'm disappointed with this thread. Was genuinely hoping someone in the know was going to come along with a miracle cure. Alas, it's not to be!

Will try that John Frieda stuff tho (other stuff looks pricey!).

Super drug 'style expert' (or expertise?) do a small bottle anti frizz for under £2. Lasts and lasts.

I have these wisps and I put products on them to stick them to my head in a curl or two, actually brushing all the wisps down, then using products to arrange them somewhat.

I call them my baby hair and they don't bother me a bit!

Apparently the wispiness can be caused by having your hair wrapped in a towel turban after the shower. It breaks the hair at the front. Instead, squeeze the ends dry with a towel and comb through very gently when wet with a wide tooth comb.

I know this sounds very drastic but would you consider shaving it all off? To explain - an acquaintance comes from a country where boys' hair is shaved off at the age of 2 to encourage it to grow more thickly. I mentioned this to a friend who has very fine hair who said in a way she wished she'd had this done (or had the balls to do it as an adult).

I have no idea if it would work! Just thought I'd throw it out there in the absence of anything else!

I have wisps too, blimin annoying. No hair style suggestions I'm afraid. I try to not pull my hair up too tight and do it gently but like OP, I'm crap at hairstyling. I also have curly knotty wisps at the back that arn't long enough for the ponytail so just get knottier and curlier and wispier, particularly when my baby grabs them and breaks hair off or pulls it out. Sigh.

I always had this problem until I had my hair cut into a pixie. Now the wispy bits are about the same length as everything else, and I keep all of it under control with a kind of matte paste. It's probably not a solution for everyone, but I love it (and feel like I've finally made peace with my crap hair)!

I've got the same hair as you OP. If you don't mind me asking, are you mixed race? I am, and I've noticed this kind of hair in other mixed race people, I don't know if it's a thing or not.

No I'm not, I'm white. Interesting though!
