How would you style this for a smart works dinner?

I just bought this from Zara and have dh's works dinner coming up (just a meal in a smart restaurant). I was going to wear it with black cigarette pants, black strappy heels .... but what should I wear underneath? A black vest top? A black sparkly tshirt? Any thoughts?

I love kimono tops like this. I wear them with a plain scoop neck or off the shoulder t shirt. Baujken do a gorgeous off the shoulder number. The plainer the better underneath. I also wear them.over very plain maxi dresses, and that looks good too.(I hope...)

I wear dangly earrings or a long sparkly necklace, and a clutch bag.

Thank you. I have a black scoop neck that would be fine and loads of long earrings, also superlong string of purply black pearls, will do some accessory trying on!
