Preferably a 'budget' one Smile and if it will stop creasing all the better (though my 41 yr old eyelids may be getting beyond help)

I like this: www.boots.com/en/No7-Stay-Perfect-Shine-Free-Primer-20ml_1273453/ Not cheap but nowhere near as pricey as a lot of them out there. You only use the teeniest bit and it goes very far.

Bavmorda · 15/12/2015 13:17

I use Mac Painterly Paintpot. It's not marketed as a primer but holds it all in place all day. I've used it for years - a pot lasts about 12 months and I use it every day.

For a real budget version my mum uses a Barbara Daly one from Tesco.

I use Too Faced shadow insurance. It isn't a budget item but may as well be as it lasts so long (you really only need the tiniest amount).

I have extremely oily eyelids and it's never failed me. You do have to give the tube a good massage before use as the contents does separate.

Nabootique · 15/12/2015 13:33

I've never found a budget one that works for me. I have oily eye lids. NARS is the absolute tits though.

SpecialistSnowflake · 15/12/2015 13:36

Painterly paintpot. Much better buy than budget too, because it lasts so long. As Bavmorda says, at least every day for a year!

This, from Holland and Barrett (I think the actual range is from one of the Pussycat dolls!)
It is actually designed as a base for mineral make up powders to be mixed into, but is an amazing primer.
I was told about it by the woman who did my make up for my wedding, and it lasts forever, because you only need to dot on the tiniest amount before you put your eyeshadow on

Not budget but Urban Decay eye primer is the absolute business and one tube lasts me for ages. Most MUAs swear by it.

Pointlessfan · 15/12/2015 13:43

The lady on one of the beauty counters told me to just use a tiny bit of foundation. Works a treat and no extra cost at all!

moogalicious · 15/12/2015 13:48

urban decay. £8 in debenhams for a small tube but lasts ages.

Sparkletastic · 15/12/2015 13:59

Foundation on lids doesn't work

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 15/12/2015 17:51

Barbara Daley one is good. (But I don't know if this range is discontinuing? They never seem to have alot in our Tescos)

FrustratedFrugal · 15/12/2015 17:55

I'm using up the Urban Decay tube - I've used it for several years, and still have lots of it left. I also love the Artdeco eye primer.

I use the MUA primer, it was super cheap and works fine. Before that I used to use stay don't stray from benefit and that worked well too.

superbfairywren · 15/12/2015 18:13

www.superdrug.com/MUA/MUA-Pro-Base-Eye-Primer/p/589653 this is the stuff, bargain!!

Candycoco · 15/12/2015 18:14

I use benefit lemon aid it works really well

Judydreamsofhorses · 15/12/2015 18:17

Nars is fantastic and lasts ages although initially quite expensive.

macnab · 15/12/2015 18:29

Thank you all so much! Now I know what to look at in the shops!

Urban Decay is fabulous but I now also swear by a neutral Laura Mercier Eye Caviar stick.. Not a primer, but if it's neutral to your eye shadow, dead easy to scribble on your eye (I just swipe it across) and brush on shadow over and IT DOES NOT BUDGE all day. You can often get them in Space.NK Christmas sale. I use Rose Gold for lighter shades and Amethyst for darker chocolate shadow. So easy to use. And you can wear on it's own.

I have oily eyelids and put powder on my eyelids and underneath. Found it works just as well as a primer ( and I've tried a few!)
