I am cracking! Home hair dye: Nice n Easy Age Defy -v- Vidal Sassoon

I have grown out my dye to go gracefully grey... except I have only a little bit of salt and pepper grey not funky steel grey, and my natural hair colour is a a dishwater brown sort of meh..

so I think I shall return to the dye, but since it will be a lovely new colour I want to get it right, I used to use the Live colour but it poss was a tad too dark for my skin tone,so looking at getting a medium cool brown.

the review for the vidal imply it's a faff to apply... teh nice n easy I 've used before...

Any recommendations?

Well I trialled the Vidal Sassoon one for Supersavvyme (shade 3/0 darkest neutral brown, to be precise) and I found it faded ridiculously quickly, after just a couple of washes with colour-safe shampoo, conditioner, and mask so I would strongly advise against that one. I've since used Schwarzkopf Live (a couple of months ago) and have found that to be long-lasting and still no sign of greys (I only have a handful but they're mainly positioned right at my natural parting so I see them right away when a dye does begin to fade). I can't speak for anything else on the market at present since it had been many years since the last time I coloured before being selected for the Salonist trial.

I woudn't get back on the dyeing treadmill.

Owing to the peroxide used to fix the dye all hair turns brassy under the dye and as the dye fades those gold tones show through.

Your hair sounds lovely - you have cool tones. How about buying some new clothes and make-up that work with what you have naturally?
