How to shorten pleather trousers

I need to take about an inch off my pleather trousers. I'm looking at good old needle and thread on one hand and textile glue on the other. My fear is that sewing will tear the pleather. WWYD?

I would probably glue but you need to be careful the glue doesn't stretch the pleather.

If they are a skinny fit then try just folding the extra bit under - that's what I do and it stays there (I do the same with skinny jeans)
