Non-smudgey waterproof mascara for under a tenner?

Just that really...is it possible and what would you recommend?

I currently use Maybelline Great Lash (bought before DC1 and 2 appeared nearly 3 yrs agoBlush) but it leaves a nice black smudge under my eyes by the end of the day. This adds to my general 'living dead' look which I'm keen to reverse!

I'm not after humungously large lashes, just a bit of definition and for it to be genuinely lasting rather than smudgey and flakey. So recommendations gratefully recieved please!

Rimmel 100% waterproof is fantastic and is around a fiver.

Thanks both, any more suggestions anyone?

I've been using Great Lash in waterproof and it's been ok, is that the formula you've been using? Otherwise I've tried Maybelline Falsies and that hasn't smudged either (waterproof version also).

Boots stuff in a gold tube is less than a tenner when you have the £3 off voucher I think. It's tubular so doesn't ever smudge at all.

green yes that's the one I've got, by the end of the day it's given me a nice black smudge under by eyes.

anyone what's tubular?! Is that a typo or some kind of special ingredient?!

Do you use a primer or anything with oil in it on your face? Or do you have oily skin/t zone? This could be what's melting the mascara so you could look at combating that before choosing a mascara.

Nope, no primer, just simple moisturiser. ny skin is oilyish but mostly on my forehead and no so much elsewhere so not sure it's that.

Maybelline in the yellow tube, bright blue writing, waterproof version. Think it's about £7.99. My only criticism is it dries out quite quickly but it definitely stays put as I used to have the same problem.

Tubing mascaras (like No7 Stay Perfect) form little tubes around your lashes, hence the name. You remove with warm water, not makeup remover.

I think all the Maybelline waterproof ones other than Great Lash are good, Falsies is great. Also Bourjois Volume Clubbing Waterproof (but quite hard to remove and goes quite crispy) and L'Oreal Lash Architect Waterproof.
