What sort of thing would you wear to an event that said this?
It's a children's charity event , a party (day time ) but in a very formal setting .
Any ideas? Some sort of slightly sparkly knitwear maybe? Need to dress me and Dd !

Thank you I love both and great to have ideas . Budget tiny so may wear something I have if I can (may be wishful thinking ) but that's the perfect level of smart I think!
For dd something along those lines with leggings perhaps ? Or she could wear black trousers and sparkly top? She's nine but wearing adult size 12 ish currently for tops (long story and relates to her illness which is the reason we are invited to the party) we are both dark haired , fair skin and need things loose around the tummy if that helps .

Just thought -I have a green , navy and black dress which is smart but not so festive . Any ideas on how to make that festive? Black smart sparkley jumper over maybe?

Could you liven you dress up with a bold necklace or beaded collar? Several here: everything5pounds.com

Oh wow thank you I was coming on to say I love this for over the dress to make it more day time

But that second new look link is ideal as it's the same shape as the jacket I wore with the dress. And it's much more my budget this time (recently left work so struggling with new /no budget ! )
Love the idea of beaded collar etc too thank you. Lots to think about ! I'm thinking a dress is best as can then get away with flatter boots?
Dd is tricky as ideally needs a cotton dress or top with sparkle . Just been looking at next but nothing so far.

Yeah it is a nice shape - and a great price! I find new look stuff generally washes pretty well too so should last as I can imagine it would be pretty versatile.

What about this for dd? it isn’t completely cotton though? And it wouldn’t be as short on her? I had weight gain due to medication when I was a child so feel like it is my mission to find something for her! I remember wearing size 12 ‘pedal pusher’ jeans from marks and spencer as full length jeans - I must have been about 10 years old.

This could be nice with black jeans or a denim skirt - again not cotton though.

Thanks Kate oh sounds very similar, horrible isn't it? she's ok in stretchy bottoms and dresses but poor thing is quite self conscious . The first one is lovely but I think she wouldn't tolerate the high neck -love the second though and would be smart but still comfy.

I’m able to look back now and not be too affected by it, but yes, horrible at the time. Good, i’ll keep an eye out for anything else Smile

Used2bthin · 30/11/2015 11:10

Thanks Kate and that's reassuring to hear it hasn't affected you long term.

I got these last year and they got a few laughs. Surprising cheap and chic for a novelty item Grin

Used2bthin · 30/11/2015 13:17

I like them! Novelty but enough glam about them!
