I need a rucksack *heavy sigh*

I have hurt my hip from carrying a too-heavy shoulder bag

I need a rucksack which is leather (I think) and under £100. Tan or black.

I like this, but I need at least one external pocket. So before I buy this one, which is a bit big, has anyone seen anything nice?

I need decent straps which don't break.

Is it for business or casual?

jamtartandcustard · 25/11/2015 22:15

This one in taupe is only £99

Sorry, it's for work.

That Radley one has straps which I'd break in about a week Grin

Healthy back bag?

tethersend · 25/11/2015 22:26

Just looked at those Wolfie, thanks- although aside from the fact that they look like chicken dippers, I need two straps and nothing cross-body (boobs).

Satchels.

I meant Zatchels.

I have one of these

They wear and wear and wear. I have their duffels for travelling. Almost indestructible and they are washable ( my ten year old duffel is showing signs of wear but it has been onloads of airplanes , chucked around by baggage handlers etc)

I love them. Fantastic quality.

I bought one (German make but cannot remember the name) from TK Maxx in tan leather. It's fairly sturdy, nicely made and a good colour. Worth a look?

bookbook · 26/11/2015 09:30

Not tan, do you want something smarter than this ?www.johnlewis.com/fat-face-leather-rucksack-chocolate/p2295192
this, but not leather?

This might work.

Worth looking at the traditional luggage ranges like Tumi and Samsonite for Black Friday deals. Tumi's stuff is fab but starts around £250 . Yikes !

How big does it need to be? Knomo Beauchamp bags are often recommended here, I've got my eye on one for my next work bag. They have a laptop space but don't suppose you need to put a laptop in it, but they do have proper shaped straps.

I have this one for my computer bag and noticed another woman at work has the same, but it's a bit nylony/utilitarian. I have so much weight of stuff to cart around I wanted the bag itself to be as light as possible, hence not going for a leather or huge blokey one.

specialsubject · 26/11/2015 19:51

if it is actually to carry things correctly, none of these farty fashion things are much good. You need a hip belt which fits tightly so that's where the weight goes.

And yes, adding loads of extra weight from the bag makes it worse.

I would suggest a wheely cabin bag thing, but I find them a menace and as the wheels always catch on things, they jerk and twist your arms/back/shoulders too.

tethersend · 26/11/2015 20:17

Thanks all Smile

I'm afraid it's a no to hip belts and wheels cases Grin

I've decided to order these two Herschel ones as there's 20% off on asos today. Will send one back once I've inspected.
