Glitter/sparkly eyeshadow (for grown-ups!)

Hello,

Can anybody recommend any glitter or sparkle eyeshadows which a) last b) don't fall off all over your face within about five minutes and c) aren't aimed at 15 year olds?

I just want to be festive!

Chanel Illusion d'Ombre and some of the Laura Mercier Caviar eye sticks are sparkly. I think Bobbi Brown also has some.

If it has to be cheaper, then some of the Gosh Forever eyeshadow sticks are sparkly. I found it to not last as well on the skin as the more expensive ones above.

There are loads of glittery powder shadows, but I have oily lids and powders never last on me, with or without primer, and I get a lot of fallout as well.

There's also glittery eyeliners, such as from Essence (cheap) and Urban Decay (bit more expensive). You can use them as liner or apply them with a finger all over the lid (on top of other eyeshadows if you want).

I don't like all their make up, but MAC has some really nice bits and it tends to stick fast. Barry M is probably aimed at younger, but I can't fault it in terms of shimmery goodness. It's a building one though. Layer at a time rather than one sweep and you're done. I always do my eyes first, then use a baby wipe to tidy up any errant powder before doing my foundation. I use primer underneath to hold it all. Works a bloody treat!

I've just been to talk about this. If you are in London there are some shops around Covent Garden, Charles Fox & Screen Face. Put basic eyeshadow on in the right color first and then use glue, then add glitter. You need makeup glitter, not craft glitter as it is finer grade. Put your brush into the glitter and press it on to your face, don't brush it on as it will go everywhere. If you buy some surgical tape you can use a little strip of that to get any stray bits of glitter off. When it comes to take it off use a cleanser like Eve Lom, or you could use coconut oil. You can't break it down with a makeup wipe as it won't come off. There is a brand called GlitterLips which does lip glitter.

Brushes with a kink in them are good for eyeliner. Glitter spills really easily so keep it in a separate plastic bag. When you're using gel eyeliner put some product on the back of your hand to work with, keep the container upside down so you don't keep having to put the lid on. Maybelline gel liner is good (& easily available & not too expensive).

I don't know if it would be glittery enough for you - but I love my Charlotte Tilbury black diamonds eye crayon. Lasts really well and works as smudgy eyeliner too.

I used to have glitter liquid eyeliner from Avon that I loved. Just enough sparkle without going ott. I'm not sure if they do it any more but urban decay do some the exact same which is on my dream list.
I also used to have girlactik glitter eyeshadow which was amazing, def for the evening and quite fiddly but was full glitter. Although I bought it from Asos about 10yrs ago, I don't know of any uk stockists now. Here's a link anyway www.girlactik.com/website/sparkle-eyeliner-sets/

Mac does glitter pigments but check as not all are eye safe. They do reflects glitter which are a certain colour but reflect gold/silver/pearl which is more grown up I think.

Not sure about any other brands as I haven't worn glitter in yonks but I used to pat on mac mixing medium over the same colour eyeshadow and then pat the glitter on top with a brush

Barry M Dazzle Dust with a damp brush to apply.

DD has a TopShop (Wax and Wane) which is irridescent but not overly glittery

Would definitely use an eyeshadow with glitter rather than eyeshadow then glue though, wondering what the advantage of the glue method is, does it stay longer?

Mac antique gold pigment is really nice over a smokey eye, it's a sophisticated looking glittery sheen rather than tacky.

The illusion d'ombre shadows are lovely, mirifique is a black shot with multi glitter. Looks really nice when it's blended out or you can leave it as is for more sparkle.

I agree with the MAC suggestions. Reflects Pearl, Gold and Antique Gold are beautiful.

L'Oreal nude - the sparkly one! I wear this every day.

The Body Shop have some nice sparkly eyeshadow and glitter eyeliners at the moment.
