Steampod or Cloud 9 straighteners??

Hi. I'd like to treat myself to new straighteners suitable for very thick shoulder length hair. Both the loreal steampod and Cloud 9s seem to get good reviews. Just wondered if anyone could comment on which is best, as I don't want to make an expensive mistake. Thanks

No idea but I had a brazilian blowdry, that 12 week keratin treatment, done about 18 weeks ago. It's still working. My hair is also very thick and shoulder length and wavy verging on curly. It's now less curly, zero frizz, dries very fast to a shiny swingy finish with a rough blast of the hair dryer and NO product for the first time in my adult life.

Don't know the others but I've got some new Cloud 9s and they are brilliant. Heat up really quickly and do a cracking job on my very thick shoulder length hair really quickly. Leave it very smooth and shiny.

I've wondered about a Brazilian blow dry but my usual hairdresser doesn't do them as she says they're full of dangerous chemicals! Did you have any worries about doing it?

There is an infinitesimal amount of formaldehyde in the standard treatment, which is generally afaik deemed to be harmless.
If that bothers you, there is a formaldehyde free alternative.
I can see perhaps why the person administering the treatment would prefer not to be elbow deep in the chemicals daily, but when it's on your inert dead hair for 40 minutes and washed away, I don't think there's a problem. It's certainly considerably less exposure than any life science student doing dissections would be exposed to!
I'd suggest going to a specialist salon that does the real thing, as it's a lengthy and painstaking procedure involving washing, drying and applying, ironing, then I think washing and drying again.
I think there are also home versions that can be got and have had good reviews on Amazon.
Anyway I'm very happy with my hair and it's exceeded its "use by" date by over a month.

I've got cloud nines - easily as good as my old GHDs..

I've bought did cloud nines for Xmas - my very good/on the ball hairdresser says they're better than ghds now.

Not straighteners but have just bought a Cloudnine curling wand - best curling tong I have owned. Ever. By a mile.

I've got the steam pod and it's great, leaves a lovely finish, and you can use it to make treatments really penetrate the hair.

What makes the curling wand so good Lenazabaglione?

Heats up super fast and the curls take and hold incredibly well in my almost impossible-to-curl hair. Can't praise it enough.

Thanks Len. I use my straighteners to curl and it's ruined my ghds (me twisting them round and round had loosened the wire). Considering seperate curler and straighteners now!

I've only got the Cloud 9 micro iron but they're pretty great on my thickish hair.

I broke my old GHDs so need some new full size irons pretty soon.

Coriolis has long, thing titanium plates which feel much smoother than the ghds which, even when new, feel like they're snagging my hair

I have quite thick, curly hair and my hair always kinks wtih ghds but doesn't with corilios - part of that is probably because they're hotter but they do produce a much smoother finish, so even when I curl and flick my hair I don't get kinks, it's a smooth finish

I swore by ghds for about 10 years but then tried these at a friends and was hooked, I couldn't go back!

Because ghds were the original brilliant straighteners I just forgot that there would be other entrants to the market and I do think ghd has got worse in recent years, they seem to die after about 3 years per pair

Corilios does 3 types depending on how much you want to spend and features ie how hot it goes. They also do personalised design so you can have pink plates and zebra print arms (if you're a wag!) or some other really lovely prints
