Blue dress, perfect for work, but no sleeves!

My upper arms come out for no man. How would a black long sleeve top look if wearing with black opaques?

Odd.

What kind of dress is it? Could you wear it like an Agnes B tunic with a shirt underneath?

Otherwise just get a cardi.

I quite often wear long sleeve black tops under shift work dresses. I think it shows off the dress better and feels smarter than wearing a cardigan over dress as I think it takes away from the shape of the dress.

I have work dresses in many colours (grey, red, purple, floral, green) but not blue, what kind of blue is it? I don’t think a navy would work.

What's the neckline like? Certain dresses work with long sleeves underneath, some don't. And it might need to be a 'smarter' long top like a v fine knit rather than a t-shirt type. Depends where you work I guess.

I wear shift dresses with polo or turtle necks under. I quite like it.

I agree with Pigeon - I make sure that the top doesn't show around the neck - so you only see the sleeves. It is a hassle but I pretty much have a black or white long or 3/4 length sleeve top that fits perfectly under most of my work dresses. I mainly have cotton ones from h&m / marks and Spencer's. I sometimes rock the turtle neck option too when it is really cold as suggested by iwanna

It's dark blue, I was thinking more a very fine knit (not t shirt), totally see the thing about not showing on the neckline.
I'll need to try some on under it I think.

Why, oh why, do they make winter day dresses with no sleeves? If it's cold enough to wear the dress it's definately cold enough to need sleeves.

Something a little sheer, like a fine wool T-shirt.

greengarden, how interesting, I bet they would be really useful. Totally agree about how annoying it is when A/W dresses are sleeveless.
I don't like the extra bulk or how it looks a bit 'messy' having to wear a cardigan over a nice dress either

I think loads of winter work dresses don’t have sleeves because they are a heavy material and adding arms to them makes the whole dress move when you move your arms? They must to hard to tailor to fit everyone too as they are generally so structured. I don’t know if that make sense but I have a few with sleeves to my elbows and they are heavy to wear, i’d much rather a sleeveless one with something under it

I wear long sleeved tops under smart dresses all the time - looks fine IMO, and my old office was like a freezer so I'd often wear a heattech top under, then a cropped cardi over (shape works on me) then wind up adding my massive heavy left at work in case of hypothermia cardigan on top of that.
