This dress for a posh do?

I am looking for a dress for a posh party - dinner and dancing. Can't find anything I like! Don't want lace. Don't want too short (am 47!) - rather like this - do you think it could work with some nice jewellery and heels? www.jigsaw-online.com/product/silk-overlay-jersey-dress/J28507_GN002

It's lovely.
Color might be a bit sombre.

You could wear silver accent jewelry to ensure the overall look is bold not wallflower, IYSWIM.

I really like it - not very keen on the second one - and think it's something you could wear again with different accessories to change it up.

The second one looks frumpy. Unless you are very thin it would make you look two dress sizes bigger.

The first one is lovely for...day time. It's jersey which is lovely for everyday wear.

I like the first one but I think its more casual/day to day than for a posh do, I'd wear something like that for work

It is a lovely dress but the colour makes it a little on the smart office side. It would take some really amazing jewellery and statement shoes to dress it up, but even then you may feel a bit underdressed. That in black or a really rich jewel tone could be perfect though.

2nd one is horrid

1st one is nice but to me it's a casual dress, I'd wear that dress during the day.

The first one is a nice enough dress but it's quite casual and the colour is a bit too military for a posh party.

The second one has nothing going for it.

Depends what you mean by posh do. If it is a very posh kitchen supper (say, kedgeree, good wine, cheeseboard) in a smart London home, the first dress is fine.
If it!s a posh formal dinner, then the first dress is a bit day.

Not keen on the second one at all.

I mean this in the nicest possible way so please don't take offence. But the first dress, I fear, is something that looks fabulous on the model on the Internet, and may look rather frumpy in real life. I don't know if course, I just get that impression!

Like anything I buy off the internet, it's only when I try it on I'm reminded that I'm not a 6ft tall beautiful model!!

Thanks everyone. I am not good at this sort of thing as you may have realised! It is for a dinner and dance. I do have a claret coloured lace (I know!!) knee length dress with three quarter length sleeves. Perhaps if i wear this and invest in some fabulous high heels and black opaques? Or no? Help!!!

The second dress is awful, I like the first one but not for a 'posh do'. The colour and style won't really lend iteself to a posh do,it is very nice though.........if you like it wear it (says me who spends way too much time worrying about what I wear!)

If the claret dress is nice, wear it. Lots of claret and lace about still this season.
New shoes will be useful for everything else and more worthwhile as it is only a party

First one is too plain, second one isn't very nice.
