Shellac, does it wreck nails?

I'm considering having shellac done on my fingernails. My local beauty salon does it with a treatment underneath, ibx I think it is, to protect. I'd only want it done a couple of times. I have two nails which peel and no mater what I do or use makes any difference. I'm bothered that some reviews I've read say it's wrecked their nails completely. I had gel nails done several years ago and that left my nails in a right state for months even though I had them removed properly and treated them with oils ect. I don't have weak nails other that these two that peel, if not shellac then any other ideas at all? Thanks

Shellac won't wreck your nails if you're having it done at a reputable salon, and having it removed properly too.

IBX is fantastic, been having it for the last 6 months, each time I get my nails done - about once a fortnight - and my nails are strong and healthy looking.
I'd also recommend keeping your nails quite short, just using shellac instead of nail varnish and not having extensions or acrylic nails....that's what can damage your nails in my opinion.

Thanks. My nails are mid length and the shellac only as a varnish as you suggest. My days of nail extensions are long gone Grin
I think I'll go for the IBX and have a chat with the therapist about shellac.
