Which tights with red dress?

Never wear dresses, have chunky legs but have splashed out on a red dress for a Xmas party. It's knee length, but what tights-black, nude, sheer black or nude?! Help please

A lot could depend on the shoes you are wearing. Gold,silver?

Hmm was thinking black shoes...is that not 'party' enough? No strap though as that makes my ankles look worse.

I've just searched for tights with red dress and this is pretty much the only combination that comes up in images!

No tights. They just draw attention to your legs.

If black shoes, then black tights IMO.

Thanks for the replies, esp the denier ones as I never buy tights so wouldn't know where to start. Looks like black!
