Do unworn shoes get broken?

I have a pair of Nike limited edition sneakers that I don't want to get dirty or worn out. But will they break or peel off if unworn?

What are you going to do with them, just save them forever? (Not being goody, genuinely interested)

Confused Shoes are for wearing?
friedafilmer · 15/11/2015 21:49

Yes, I know it might be weird not to want to wear shoes, but this is my situation for this pair of shoes.

So, the question remains, will they disintegrate if unworn?

Are you going to display them or leave in box?

maybemyrtle · 15/11/2015 21:54

shouldn't do. i'm guessing you're a collector, so you'll probably want to keep them out of extremes in heat, light and humidity though - will you store them in the box or have them on display?

friedafilmer · 15/11/2015 21:54

ijustwannadance - in the box

Keep them in the box, but I'd get some acid free tissue paper (like you would use for storing a wedding dress) to wrap them in, inside the box

ijustwannadance · 15/11/2015 22:03

As SheSparkles said, you need acid free tissue paper. My only worry long term woyld be the actual shoe box having any acid as this may affect shoes. Store away from heat/light.

burnishedsilver · 15/11/2015 22:04

What not email Nike and ask them about the best way to store them? Is the plan to sell them at some point in the future?

friedafilmer · 15/11/2015 22:29

burnishedsilver - not really, although now you gave me an idea!

Yes, I'm a collector. But I've only started with Nike trainers, so I have no idea about disintegration of shoes.

Not trainers but I was extremely upset when an almost brand new pair of heels I kept in a box broke the night I wore it to a wedding.

One whole outer sole came off and I could barely walk home. It was mortifying and the shoes were posh and cost a fortune too!!

I think it was the humidity that did them in.

Yseulte · 17/11/2015 11:02

I've got shoes I've had for 20 years and don't wear often. But the rubber of trainers does disintegrate over time.
