What colour shirt with a purple sweater?

I bought a lovely purple knit dress in the jaegar sale but due to me being petite, the full skirt and long sleeves swamp me.

It was a bargain and is lovely and cosy so I am going to keep it- but I am thinking of ways to break it up a bit.

A statement necklace looks good, but I was thinking of maybe wearing a shirt underneath so I have an exposed Peter Pan collar- but what colour shirt with purple?

I have tried a baby blue one, and although I liked 'the look', the colour looked a bit wrong.

White.

White would be good. But might be a bit "safe"

I've seen loads of mustardy yellow shirts paired with navy blue tops. Maybe one of these might work....?

I'd go for emerald green if it's a bright purple, or a faded deep sage if it's a greyish purple.

I often wear purple with green too, although it depends on the shade.

Green, interesting. Sounds a bit Daphne but I'll give it a go.

Otherwise I was thinking maybe a floral ditsy print with a bit of purple in it?

Red can look good as well depending on the shade of purple. Or brown. Purple's a great colour, goes with lots of other colours.

Think of the peacock colours, deep blues, rich greens. A nice silk shirt in navy blue would look nice too.

Nettletheelf · 15/11/2015 15:08

Yes to navy, and grey.

maybe a strong pink or a burnt orange. How about shrinking the wool dress to get a better fit? Only hard to control the % of shrink.
