Winter School Run

Um... My 'waterproof' coat isn't waterproof and my boots keep slipping across the leaves. Not good with a baby in the sling whilst running after the elder one. Any advice on good waterproofs/boots for the school run?

A lot of rave reviews for seasalt coats (they are waterproof) but even the size 8 swamps me and I most definitely not skinny. So I am yet to find my holy grail coat but they may work for you if you are taller (I'm 5'4").
I love my knee high boots from sainsbury's(!) - they are leather, come in black or brown, very comfy and inexpensive.

I also have Sainsburys boots- last years version. They are great, and still going strong.

I have a Didriksons coat- very warm and totally waterproof. I use it on playground duty rather than the school run, it's great.

Will investigate. Thanks!

I have the older Merrell Wakefield insulated which was reborn as the Ellenwood I think. It's a great coat. I'm 5'9 and it comes within three inches of my knee cap. Is warm without being stifling and crucially is waterproof. It withstands windy showery dig walks and full on coastal gales. Truly a good buy the only thing I don't like about is the colour - black.

Brill - thanks!

I have the Merrell Ellenwood

Had it for 2 years, really good waterproof coat. I agree with the whole black is boring bit but it does the job, has an interior elastic pull cord thing that pulls the waist in meaning you don't look like a caterpillar Grin

The hood is big but pull cords allow you to pull it closer to your head. I can easily fit a hat underneath.

I'm almost 5'5" and it doesn't look too big, good coverage and a two way zip meaning you can open the zip up from the bottom whilst it is still closed at the top. The link above shows it for £150, I definitely paid around £240 for it.
