What is this unusual perfume I should have bought in Duty Free? Very few clues, sorry!

I want one of the MN perfumistas (or indeed someone who works in Duty Free) to tell me the name of this perfume I should have bought about a year ago in duty free. Here are the (laughably few) clues. You will indeed be a perfume genius if you know what I'm on about. Grin

  1. As I said, on sale in Duty Free, possibly Heathrow.

  2. I'd never seen the range before, and I mooch around Duty Free a lot. My memory from talking to the assistant was that it was a newish range for them. Definitely not your standard Chanel, D & G, Hermes etc etc.

  3. Descriptive quirky fragrance names eg Smoke and Leather (feeling a bit Jilly Goolden now Grin)

  4. I think the range was someone's full name, and possibly a woman, but v wobbly on this detail.

  5. Quite masculine packaging. Almost certain the range was unisex.

And over to you...

Well I'm wearing Oil Fiction and I still wouldn't have guessed correctly from your description OP Grin

This is my first week of using my winter perfumes and I had two lovely compliments about the Oil Fiction today.

Oh blimey, didn't realise there are seasonal rules for perfumes! What is your summer one, Vind?

OP, do NOT buy the book Perfumes:the Guide by Luca Turin (best name ever ) and Tania Sanchez.
It will cost you far more than the tenner or so you would pay for it.....

MissBattleaxe · 11/11/2015 11:58

In general spicier warmers scents are better for winter i.e leathers, spices, orientals.

In summer it's more usual to wear colognes and hesperides i.e tea notes, citruses, light florals.

However, I wear whatever I feel like all year round as do many others, but sometimes, when its very cold, I raid DH's manly stuff and wear that.

MissBattleaxe · 11/11/2015 11:59

Perfumes The Guide is addictive and often hilarious reading. And yes, it could get very expensive as you get all tempted...

TonyMaguire · 11/11/2015 14:20

I hate tea scents, so I'd be safe on that score. Smile

I don't think there are any rules Tony I just like a warmer spicier scent to warm me up when the wind and rain set in. Had Back to Black by Kilian on today, I haven't worn it for months and had forgotten how lovely it is. I kept sniffing my wrist, small pleasures etc.
This summer I was wearing Sisley Eau Tropical or Angel
