Nail varnish help please

I have a wedding at the weekend and would like to paint my nails. Not up for going to a salon. I have a toddler dd so limited time on my hands, especially with wedding travel so reckon the best bet to do my nails is on the morning of the do. Less time to ruin them then too. Do any of the nail varnishes which claim to be one coat, quick drying and long lasting actually work as they claim? Can anyone recommend one?

Barry m sunset daylight curing is good, you have to use the top coat but it is touch dry almost immediately, and then pretty robust within half an hour, I'd say.

Don't try and get opacity in one coat - that way lies dents and smudges. Two or three thin coats (of any polish), with decent base coat and top coat (I also like Seche Vite on top but really, anything is better than nothing), will last a few days if you look after them. Can you not do your nails the night before when DC in bed? You'll have plenty of time to let them dry properly then.

As peace love and party rings said thin coats are so much better. I clean the nail with nail varnish remover, apply base coat, leave to dry for 5-10 mins first thin coloured coat, leave to dry, second coat, leave to dry, maybe a third depends on coverage, then top coat. Try do it when Dc is in bed.

I agree thin coats is the way to go. If you want a really quick drying one so it won't take too long I recommend Barry M Speed Dry.

I second the Barry M speed dry.

Opi rapid dry top coat is amazing. It's a little pricey (around £12-£14 I think) but I can get away with using cheaper nail polishes and the bottle itself lasts ages. Honestly, it dries in minutes and gives a shallac-like finish.

I dont think any one coat polishes are much good. You always need a second coat.

Sigh I need this too - just did my nails, thought I'd waited long enough, and ruined one already. Ugh why do I even bother!

Sally Hansen Indra dry too coat is amazing. I've tried seche vite but it made the polish peel off after a couple of days.

With the Sally Hansen, nails are touch dry instantly, and then fully dry in around 10mins. You don't even have to let the base coat and polish dry before the top coat. I love it!

Yes to the Barry M Sunset Daylight Curing - I tried it out for the first time last Tuesday and my nails are still perfect today, apart from a tiny amount of tip wear which I deal with by taking the edge off with a crystal file. This is unbelievable for me, I rarely get more than about 3 days out of a polish and often have a chip within 24 hours. Dried very fast too, at least as quickly as Seche Vite and Insta-Dri, I like both of them too.

I really like sally hansen insta-dry, it really does dry quickly and makes a lovely shiny topcoat. you can buy it in boots

my favourite varnish is OPI. very long lasting.
