Pre-teen greasy/oily hair

I have curly hair. It has never been greasy. Evah. Always had to battle dryness and frizz. Only reason I am telling you is to show my utter lack of knowledge.

DD (nearly 10) has straight, fine, dark blonde hair. The sort that shows grease from 10,000 paces. And it is showing/becoming visibly greasy almost every other day (if not the morning after hair washing night iyswim).

She is beginning to notice it. How do I help her deal with this? What should she (I?) be doing. What shampoo? (Currently using alberto balsam apple stuff.) Should she skip conditioner? Wash daily or will that make it worse. I have tried google but all the advice seems hit and miss. Oh wise S&B help me help my pfb.

I am floundering in hair unknowness...real word

I have hair like your dd.

Wash with a simple silicon free shampoo (Aussie mega shampoo doesn't weigh it down/make it greasy)

Most conditioners are pure silicon so I'd avoid.

I wash every other day. As washing too often not good either.

Don't have a hair style where you have to run your hands through your hair a lot (makes it greasy).

My DD has the same issue but I also had the same problem when younger.

My advice is to wash every other day using a mild shampoo, make sure she shampoos and rinses thoroughly, I discovered DD wasn't really rubbing the shampoo in properly at the roots. No conditioner.

If it looks a bit oily on the non hair wash day I use a little dry shampoo at the roots.
