Kew duck down/padded coat how to clean?

As it says in title.... I'm not sure whether to dry clean or to wash?

Have heard sometimes drycleaning these sort of coats can leave them with a chemical smell.

I'm an ex dry cleaner . We never dry cleaned the coats even if it said to, they don't like it . I'm not familiar with the coat but I've never seen a puffa that isn't wash well. They thing is it needs to be tumble dried so you need to make sure the material is suitable for that as it will get hot . We used industrial size dryers and they still took hours and hours , so I would consider getting it done professionally . I know lots on here have washed them and they have been fine in a normal dryer with tennis balls to re fluff . Be warned of you wash it it will look be flat as a pancake when it comes out and will be ruined if you don't tumble dry .

I don't have a tumble dryer what now??!!

Take it to the dry cleaner to be washed .. If it's a decent one they will know what to do .

Take it to the laundrette, wash on a cold wash with down wash, the make is NIKWAX, you can also buy the DOWNPROOF which will help waterproof it. You could also use old fashioned soap suds.

Make sure you give it a really good spin - obvs you can do this at home, but use the laundrette tumble drier on cold with a couple of tennis balls or else buy the drier balls. This'll dry it quickly & fluff up the down nicely. Dry it quick though or it'll start to smell.
