Best foundation for 40s, combination skin, redness...

I know there are a lot of "foundation" threads but don't really know where to start. I am early 40s, combination skin - v greasy t-zone and dryness around eye area, redness in cheeks and a nose that can sometimes rival Rudolph. Painting a lovely pic, no?
I am currently using Liz Earle tinted moisturizer which I love but now seems not enough coverage (was fine in summer) and I end up using loads of concealer too. I have a Bourjois CC cream for redness which I just use on those areas but I would like a foundation that covers better, without being too heavy. Friends have recommended EL Double Wear but I'm not sure if it might feel a bit heavy. Anyone recommend Double Wear Light? Or any other miracle amazingness....?

Hi freddiemed,

I vote for EL double wear. I also dislike the feeling of heavy make up so bought my DW thinking I'd use it only for evenings out but I absolutely love it for every day! You only need the smallest amount to get full coverage using a good brush and it does what it says, lasts all day and covers extremely well, without feeling at all heavy or tacky like some.

I use a good moisturiser and primer with sunscreen, apply DW all over but avoiding the eye area, apply eye cream/primer and then use Nars creamy concealer under my eyes. I had a huge experiment with foundations/concealers including most Mac, Laura Mercier (which is great for lighter coverage in the summer), Chanel, Armani and most high street brands but settled on EL DW as the best of the bunch!

Just to add, you can get a decent sized tester from boots of the EL. Mine lasted about 4 or 5 months!

Agree with Ronaldmc.
I've tried so many foundations but the revlon oil control is excellent. More expensive isn't necessarily the best.

Surprisingly I'm finding my skin is loving Garnier BB Pure Active put on with a brush and layering it where I need more.
Along with combination, open pores, redness and wrinkles I'm also very furry Grin so heavier foundations don't sit well.
I don't use powder either and honestly this is the best I've ever had.

I have similar skin

I have been using since a sephora sales assistant recommended to me

Makeupforever primer here ,putting all over face.

then applying bourjois healthy balance powder foundation with a brush

a bit of under eye concealer and it lasts all day

looks very very natural

Thanks all. I'm going to get a sample of double wear and have a look at the Revlon one too. Don't think I can stretch to the make up forever primer tho ! I do have a No.7 primer which feels nice, not sure it makes much difference though. Has anyone used Smashbox, keep hearing about it?

I also use boujois CC cream which I think is great stuff

The foundation I use is clarins everlasting. I had a sample of Estée Lauder double wear which I really liked and would be happy to buy that.
