what colour eyeliner do you use? I like black but wonder if I should go brown for a gentler look....

I'm in my 40s and dyed blonde. I mostly use black eyeliner, sometimes grey. It suits my eyes better, I go by eye colour rather than hair colour?

I use the YSL eyeliner called Babydoll (awful name ) in a silvery grey . it is a lovely soft and subtle colour . Black is too harsh for me now . Very fine brush in the product and it has lasted ages .

I still use black, but only on the top lid. I tend to use a sweep of whatever eyeshadow I'm using that day under the lower ones for a softer look.

Dark navy/blue, Nars have a good crayon/pencil thing, also a shadow called China Blue (I think)

I use MAC Taupe (which is a sort of greyish-brown), but then I have brown eyes so I've always used this. Black mascara though (or actually lash extensions).

blonde, blue eyes here. Occasionally black on the top lids but less and less. I have a slate grey one from E Arden.

Dyed blonde, green eyes. Have switched from black to brown for every day wear. I now only really wear black if going out and doing smoky eyes.

Always brown. I'm very pale and blue eyes. I look awful with black.

I have greenish greyish eyes but they are very small and deep set so I use a peachy colour, or a Benefit pinky colour that makes me look like a rabbit pre-mascara but fine with mascara. I also use brown or brown-black mascara.

I make my eyes up for my eye shape, not particularly for my colouring.

I have dark green eyes and warm blond hair and use brown eyeliner or dark green.

Black, always black, as black as sin.

I'm 36 but wear grey. I have summer colouring so don't suit brown and have blue eyes which navy liner makes look sludgy grey so grey liner and navy mascara are best for me

I have green eyes and use the Clinique blue/grey eyeliner which , like Casmama, suits my summer colouring. Brown doesn't work for me at all

39. Natural honey/strawberry blonde, cool colouring. I use EL DW 'night violet', and dark blue mascara. Using brown eyeliner and mascara because it's 'softer' is bollocks for me. Makes me look like shit.

Grey or brown - haven't used black for about 10 years.

Navy or dark purple. I have blue eyes.

Navy, purple , dark green or grey . I never wear black or brown eyeliner or mascara , as black is too harsh and brown doesn't suit me

I don't wear eyeliner. I do a flicky thing with black eyeshadow, water and a brush on my lid and black mascara. I've tried eyeliner underneath a few times and can never get it right.

42, very blonde (dyed). Green grey eyes.

Sometimes wear black (always on a night out), mostly wear dark brown.

Anthracite gray, mid gray, silvery taupe, khaki, metallic green, purple, bitter chocolate brown. I often line my upper lashline with wet eye shadow for softer definition and then tightline with gray. I'm 40+, have green eyes and naturally blonde hair. I used black in my twenties but the softer colors look much better.

Estée Lauder Double wear in Granite. Blonde with blue eyes.

Blonde(ish) with grey eyes, I use Clinique Moss quickliner (its a grey/blue/green)- somehow it's just right for my colouring.

I have tried brown but it makes my eyes look red as if I've been crying and navy blue isn't right either, too stark.

If i've run out of Moss, then I would use black, as it's better for me than any of the alternatives.
