Hi Salene
I'm almost 36 and also dry / dehydrated
First step - put down the baby wipes and back away!
Use a proper cleanser. In the morning, I use Body Shop Pomegranate Cleansing lotion - slather on face, then remove with warm wet flannel. Evening - Superfacialist by Una Brennan products are fab and all under a tenner in Boots. I use the Rose Cream Cleanser followed by Vitamin C Orange Cleansing Oil. For each one, massage into skin then remove with warm wet flannel. Double cleansing is important - you can use the same cleanser twice if you want to. The first cleanse takes off the make-up, dirt, sweat, general grime; the second cleanse cleans the skin underneath. You can definitely use the same cleanser for morning and evening if you want, I just love cleansers and the oil cleanser helps with dryness.
After cleansing, serum - I absolutely love Superdrug Hydrating Serum. It costs less than 3 and is just as good as the Vichy serum I used a while back. It can be a bugger to find in shops but always available on the website
Moisturiser - morning, I use either Superdrug Simply Pure Hydrating Cream or Nivea Rich Moisturising Cream. Both have SPF 15. Both cheap as chips. Night, I use serum then massage in a bit of almond oil, sometimes a layer of Astral just before bed if feeling the need
I also use acid toning pads most nights from Nip & Fab - the glycolic ones. I get them in Superdrug, they're often on offer for about 7 quid. They remove dead skin cells, help with flakiness and prep your skin for moisturiser and serum
My skin is in very good nick and I don't use anything expensive on it. But please don't forget to watch your diet and lifestyle - makes at least as much difference to your skin as what you put on it:
- loads of fruit and veg
- watch the sugar and caffeine
- watch the booze
- drink loads of water
- sleep as much as you can
- no smoking
- exercise at least every other day - brisk walking is great but do something a bit sweatier if you can
