cut out swimsuit -yay or nay?

I'm 37 and in need of a new swimming costume. Not for hardcore swimming but more for holidays or splashing about with my kids.

I don't like really sporty speedo type swim suits and feel a bit exposed in a bikini and am wondering about the cut out ones I've seen. Will I look ridiculous at my age?

Not related to age but I think they look a bit try hard and weird personally. You'd have very strange tan lines!

What about a kind of 50s bikini with the high waisted bottoms?

I quite like them. 37 is not too old!
