Very waterproof coat!

I have admit defeat and get a serious waterproof and warm sensible coat as I'm sick of being drenched. What's the most potentially stylish looking yet hard core waterproof (not a drop of moisture getting at me!) coat you know of? I've seen some parka like Regatta coats that aren't bad. My current winter coat is cream wool with sequins and I don't have anything with a hood! But the days of avoiding rain and using umbrellas are over and nursery run and walk to work requires some serious protection. Up to £70 or recommend something a bit more pricey and I'll see if I can find it on eBay.

The North face and berghaus both do good quality waterproof coats.

They both also do coats where you can zip a fleece in for extra warmth.
Look out for the 'goretex' logo if you want extra waterproof protection. berghaus, I think have the edge with their waterproof's

Remember also that if you buy a waterproof coat, don't wash it in normal detergent as it can take the 'proofing' off. You can get the correct wash and re proofer for when you need to wash it

I have a Merrell Haven, which looks like a duffel coat but is seriously waterproof.

Usually at this time of year there is a thread about waterproof, warm, bum covering coats, so if you search you'll find some suggestions from previous years

Seasalt coats are brilliant, but over your budget - maybe worth hunting on eBay.

Buglife · 02/11/2015 18:51

Yes I may have to up my budget as this will presumably last for years and years. I could spend more. I will look at seasalt. I don't want anything 'sporty' looking or something too puffy, just a nice simple coat with maybe some flattering or stylish touches that doesn't make me damp after 10 minutes!

Def seasalt is everything you are asking for. I bought the janelle when they had 20% off and it's by far the best coat I've ever had. 100% waterproof and lovely and warm without being too thick.

I had the same thread a couple of months ago. Ended up with a North Face Loreto Triclinate jacket, main reason being it was the first one I tried on, was £80 off and was flattering and a bum-coverer. Has a peaked hood as well which was a must as I wear glasses. Really recommend it!!

Never thought I'd be a North Face wearer, but having given in to wearing a Sensible Mum Coat I thought there was no point worrying over the brand.

Yes, I don't know why I'm fussing so much as I'm pretty much over grooming myself or giving as much of a shit over my outfits when I just need to get DS to nursery and to work and then back again! But I know that I'll end up wearing the comfy dry coat all the time it's wet so would like it to be something nice rather than a mountaineering cagoule chucked on over a dress.

Regatta, looks like a parka, fitted and I like a bit of furry hood. A possibility!

Very waterproof coat!
