What shoes can I wear with jeans?

When I wear jeans and a long (ie knee length) coat I never know what shoes look good. I have varieties of trainer type things and smart boots. But both these look rubbish with jeans and long coat. I don't want to spend too much, do you have any recommendations?

What kind of jeans? If you are wearing skinny or slim jeans I'd recommend boots - either ankle or long boots should look okay. Boot cut jeans I'd probably go for a kitten heel or ankle boot underneath.

It sounds like there is a gap in your wardrobe for casual boots.

What kind of jeans? No idea - they are blue denim, not super slim but not bootcut, just... middling.

I don't even know what to start looking for. I already have three pairs of boots and they tend to cost more than shoes, so I wasn't actually planning on looking for boots But if that is best, then maybe. Do I need suede? Black leather looks a bit weird and smart with my jeans.

And no heels. I can't do heels. Or pointy toes.

Chelsea boots. I just bought these tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/tustorefront/?pagetype=product&productcode=128036264-Tan love them.

I like that coat. I'd wear it with skinny jeans and either Chelsea boots or some nice knee high boots like these http://www.clarks.co.uk/p/20352439

Would leather and denim look ok though? Would suede look better? Or is leather ok as long as it's not black?

Not suede in winter..... not rain friendly.

So some sort of tan leather Chelsea boot type things. Those Sainsburys ones up there look nice.
