What footwear do you wear when it's raining?

Well actually just that question. Because I tend to wear rubber thongs/flipflops when it's raining but sometimes it's too cold.

Wellies or walking boots generally! But I am rural UK and have an energetic dog to walk. Accessorised with waterproof jacket and over-trousers. Not very S&B, just totally practical.

Tarzanlovesgaby · 02/11/2015 12:47

in the city normal leather shoes.
put a shoe tree in after wearing to keep the shape.
countryside: hiking boots or wellies.

Tarzanlovesgaby · 02/11/2015 12:48

flipflops are not shoes, they are for swimming pools or camping showers

GoneAndDone · 02/11/2015 13:30

In the colder months, waterproof boots. I have some from Ugg and Clarks.

Artandco · 02/11/2015 13:32

Depends. Generally leather boots if I'm just out and about and it happens to be raining. I would wear wellingtons if torrential though or planning on walking anywhere muddy or proper walking boots

Glitteryred · 02/11/2015 14:04

In a hot country I will always wear flip flops, here in the UK I wear wellies or hiking boots.

polyhymnia · 02/11/2015 14:34

Normal leather shoes or boots, sprayed with protector.

Doc martens, biker boots, timberland calf high earthkeeper boots etc in winter, in summer whatever's on my feet anyway as everything dries quickly.

Notoedike · 02/11/2015 16:20

My Aigles Wellies or Blundstone boots.

friedafilmer · 02/11/2015 20:42

My reason for wearing flipflops is because I don't want to damage my leather shoes and trainers. I guess I baby my shoes so much.

you can keep your shoes nice by using shoe polish or impregnating spray and shoe trees.

TimeToMuskUp · 02/11/2015 20:56

I bought two pairs of leather Ugg boots last winter in the sales, and live in them when it rains. Black and brown so they go with everything, comfy as anything I've ever worn and indestructible yet smart enough to wear with dresses and cardis for work (I'm a TA). Can't beat them.

In summer I'm barefoot 90% of the time.

polyhymnia · 05/11/2015 13:48

I'm guessing the OP lives abroad as it's very rare to see anyone wearing flip-flops in the British winter.

Bunbaker · 05/11/2015 13:57

Yes. It's far too cold to wear flip flops at this time of year. (Edge of Pennines here)
