Recurring spot

I'm mid-40s, generally good skin save for a small teenage spot which forms on my chin, comes to a head, is helped by me to pop (sorry) and then reappears a few days later. What can I do?

I don't know, but I'm bumping as I've got the same brute next to my nose.

Could be something in your diet.

When you're popping it are you getting the hard "head" out? If not it will refill.

HopeClearwater · 01/11/2015 11:35

It just disappears leaving a red bit of slightly broken skin.

I have the exact same problems with a spot on my chin Sad

After extraction, apply anti bacterial hand gel. The type that doesn't need water. Can on with a cotton bud. If it stings for a moment its doing good!

Works for me.

I would suggest treating with benzoyl peroxide gel 5 % in the am. This will kill the bacteria causing the infection. In the pm treat with a bha gel 2% (salicylic acid). This will chemically exfoliate the skin and help clear out the pores/hair follicle of the dead skin which causes the inflamation.

I don't think you are totally getting rid of the root of the spot when you are popping it.

Something like Vichy Hyaluspot is a BHA gel which will exfoliate it out for you. Use it a few times a day until it's well and truly gone.

You may need a daily salicylic acid toner just to keep spots at bay like Clinique Mild Clarifying Lotion which stops spots forming in the first place as well as clearing up any existing ones.

How do you get rid of the root of spots? It's my life's mission at the mo.

amarmai · 01/11/2015 22:05

might be an ingrown hair- i get spots from them.

KanyesVest · 01/11/2015 22:13

I have three hormonal spots that I had for years as a teenager, and have again since I got the merina put in. Nothing i do seems to work, you have my sympathies.

purplewhale · 01/11/2015 22:14

If it keeps refilling then there is most likely a hair trapped in there. Until you get the hair out it won't go.

Thanks everyone.
