Best curling tong/wand for making a straight bob wavy?

I'm clueless about curling tongs/wands. Which one do you use to transform a chin length straight bob to a soft wavy bob? I've tried doing it with my GHDs but usually end up with uneven crazy waves and a burnt hand...

Use them often and no damaged ends due to the heat

I hate those conical wands. Always end up burning my fingers.

Also with thick hair, it's hard to find a device with which it doesn't take 2 hours to do my whole head.

I though that the babyliss curl secret would do this fir me but it didn't. It gave me ringlets. Very expensive, time consuming, ringlets.

Babyliss curl pods are meant to be good. There's some youtube videos of people using them.

Hmmm...those curl pods look good (just watched video of Fearne Cotton using them on the Superdrug website) but too time consuming for me. I need to curl and go. Having said that, I tried again with my GHD straighteners today and didn't do too badly. Maybe practice makes perfect?

GHD wand is too pricey for me unfortunately.

My hair is just passed my shoulders, so longer than bob length. Have just bought a Cloudnine micro wand and it's fab. Best curler I've ever owned... and there have been a few. 30% of at Toni and Guy with fee delivery at the minute.
