What's your favourite website for dresses?

I'm looking for something LOVELY for New Year's Eve....after spending the last five in by myself, I'll be on a cruise this year so I'm VERY excited! I'm looking for something that's really beautiful, but maybe a bit unusual/quirky? I don't really want to go for the classic LBD (although I'm not ruling out black). I think the dress code will be dressy, but not ball gowns, iykwim? I'm 5'2", long blonde hair, size 14, fairly curvy, (won't do much more than 2incjes above the knee though as I hate my legs!) and I suppose my budget would be up to about £100.....(though I'd prefer less!) Anybody know of any websites to inspire me? Thank you!

Jumping on board...I just ordered the Trixie pencil dress in black and the Regina Bengaline in Teal and a red stripey one in the sale

I am away this weekend so hopefully it they will come and fit by then!

beavington · 03/11/2015 10:18

You all look amazing in your dresses!

jennymac · 03/11/2015 13:47

Just bought a dress from CHI CHI London for my brother's wedding and DH says he thinks it is the nicest dress I have ever worn! (I presume he is excluding my wedding dress from that!)

PenelopePitstops · 03/11/2015 13:51

Robertwars let me now about the regina. I want it but I'm between a 12 & 14 and struggling to decide!

Robertwars · 03/11/2015 14:12

Will do! I am in between too so have gone for a 14 so fingers crossed....

ThePortlyPinUp · 04/11/2015 17:27

Another collectif fan here, did you know that they have an eBay store selling end of lines, samples and seconds? I got a pair of the pippa dungarees yesterday which cost £14.50 and I can't find the faults on them. It's called collect_clothing.

TwoNoisyBoys · 04/11/2015 22:09

Thats got to be worth having a look at! Thanks for that Smile

You lot area bad influence. eBay + Collectif proved too strong a combination to resist. God only knows when I will wear it, but I needed it....

Kate900 · 05/11/2015 16:55

There are a lot of different websites where u can order clothes. Firstly I was afraid to buy sth there but once I took a chance and ordered one dress www.alternativeapparel.com/stowaway-eco-fleece-dress-61115f1 and it was appropriate one for me:)

stealthsquiggle · 06/11/2015 12:25

My eBay bargain Collectif dress arrived. It fits perfectly and I love it. I still have no bloody idea when I will wear it, but never mind eh...

MmeGuillotine · 06/11/2015 21:29

Ooh, TwoNoisyBoys, I missed your update! You look AMAZING! The shoulder strap thing is bloody annoying though, isn't it?! Have you managed to sort it out? :)

(I'm just about to buy another Collectif dress, eek! I have um far too many already but they're just so pretty!)

CambridgeBlue · 07/11/2015 09:04

Thanks for this thread, I'd never heard of Collectif but I love their stuff, it's very me. I like that it's different without looking like fancy dress which some of the retro stuff can.

I've got to get a nice dress for my work Xmas do and have been struggling as I find smart dressing really hard - I looked crap last year and felt so uncomfortable :( I adore the Regina Bengaline and am hoping it suits me - wondering if it may be a bit long as I'm only 5'2ish but think I'll take a chance and order it anyway.

ThePortlyPinUp · 07/11/2015 19:51

Whoops I may have just taken advantage of the free postage code and bought the Monroe cropped jeans. For £10 they were a complete bargain and I will wear them loads with saddle shoes.

MakeTeaNotWar · 07/11/2015 20:50

Why can't I find the eBay shop - please can I have a link?

ThePortlyPinUp · 07/11/2015 22:48

Robertwars · 10/11/2015 12:59

Penelope, sorry for the delay in replying but couldn't log on! The dress is lovely, fits really well and very flattering. The only thing I would say is I felt a little self conscious as it is very cleavage enhancing (and I am a 32ff!) . However , after a few glasses of wine I forgot about this!

It's prob a bit late now but the bridesmaid range in bridal shops is usually good for something special, will fit perfectly and can be in any colour you choose. Worth having a look x

TwoNoisyBoys · 11/11/2015 19:48

Aww MmeGuillotine, thank you so much, what a lovely thing to say Flowers Hope you're pleased with your stuff too! Smile

(Ps no, I haven't done the straps yet....its on my "to do" list!)
CambridgeBlue, I'm 5'3" (just under, in fact) so I don't know if you can judge the dress lengths by that?

OP posts:
PenelopePitstops · 14/11/2015 09:02

Thanks Robert. I'm going to order mine today, very excited! Glad the 12 was OK, think I'll go for that as I'm losing weight hopefully.

CambridgeBlue · 14/11/2015 10:51

Thanks TwoNoisyBoys, looks as though it could be about the right length for me then.

Yoghurty · 14/11/2015 12:41

I wish I hadn't looked at this thread- I already have a few Collectif dresses/skirts/tops ( actually bought another one 2 weeks ago) and then I clicked on the eBay link. I just bought another two swing dresses and a top! Only £45 all in with postage thou, which is cheaper than one of their full price dresses. Actually, I am glad I looked at this thread! Thanks everyone! Smile
