Weekend in the country outfits ideas needed.

We are heading away with some friends soon for a weekend in the country. One of the females going is always very well turned out as opposed to me who looks like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards. Can you give me some outfit inspiration so i can look a bit more pulled together. Will be going for 3 days.

I'm the last person to be offering style advice but requirements for weekend in country pretty straightforward hopefully . Depends on your activities but would suggest the minimum of:

• good long-ish walking boots or wellies (country boots as opposed to hiking boots but it depends on what you will be doing/where you are going)

• good country coat (rain proof)

• a couple of pairs of well fitting jeans

• a couple of shirts/practical but smart-ish jumpers that you can wear to pub during the day for meals

• one smarter outfit in case you go out to eat in the evenings

• perhaps one 'lounge inside' outfit of breton top and yoga pants in case the weather is bad?

Try and get all of the above (apart from lounging outfit) to roughly coordinate?

Perhaps coordinating scarf, hat, gloves depending on weather?

People in the countryside don't wear different clothes to people in towns or cities! What are you going to do while you are there? Restaurants, theatre, art galleries?

Exactly, you're not going to Mars. Dress for the weather and the activities. What exactly are you struggling with, genuinely? More info would help.

Yes, it totally depends on what your plans are for when you're in the country. Is it all long country walks, or holing up in front of roaring fires in the hotel/local pubs?

I live in the country, my uniform tends to be plenty of layers: almost always skinny jeans, wellies if going walking, boots/trainers if not, LS top, cashmere jumper, scarf. For walking often a body warmer, otherwise a coat appropriate to the occasion: decent waterproof if rain threatens, duvet coat if freezing.
