Tights falling down

I love wearing dresses and skirts in the autumn and winter with thick black tights and long boots - but how the heck do you stop them rolling up and falling down?! I'm hiking mine up constantly! Any tips? I usually buy them from primark, is that where I'm going wrong?

Knickers over tights!!

snicks1977 · 24/10/2015 21:56

Love the knicker idea! I have really long legs so have to get ones for larger ladies (my bum is being worked on but it's not quite an extra large) the ones my size end up being not long enough in the leg which is a pain in the bum and I'm forever hiking them up!

This is a brilliant idea!!!

Itsbloodydarkoutside · 24/10/2015 21:57

Just another pair of black knickers over the top?! That's a great idea, I'll try it! Thanks :)

I rarely wear tights and have to do the John Cleese Walk thing moving my leg forwards, slideways to get them stretched.
I don't wear pants over the top though.
My DD wears lycra sports shorts under her school skirt so she knows the sense of this Smile

NorbertDentressangle · 24/10/2015 22:02

I think it depends on the quality of the tights.

I don't normally have a problem but the ones I've worn this week have been awful and have felt really loose as if they're falling down all the time.

Normally they're M&S but these were some other make that I found lurking in the drawer - can't remember where from but possibly Primark?

Greengardenpixie · 24/10/2015 22:04

I do the knickers over tights. I do wear them under too obviously. Totally works :)

Doilooklikeatourist · 24/10/2015 22:04

Just get a bigger size { I know it doesnt make sense }
I live in extra large , and I am a size 14 5 foot 6er

QueenPotato · 24/10/2015 22:05

I'm tall and have this problem. Having to get XL even though I'm not XL, to get the extra length. Or they aren't long enough and I hate that feeling of tights slipping down. Wearing a pair of light control shorts over them works well as they are quite firm and won't get pulled down by the tights.

Also, I have found some tights that are actually long enough - M&S thermal ones. No idea why they seem to be longer but I love mine.

Ikeameatballs · 24/10/2015 22:07

I get the "hold in your tum" ones. I think they stay up better and keep you warmer. Not sure they help my tummy though!

kua · 24/10/2015 22:08

Buy bigger sized tights. I'm 5'6 and a size 10/12 and I buy size 16 or large in primark and no longer have the problem.

CointreauVersial · 24/10/2015 23:54

Your tights are too small.

Meow75 · 25/10/2015 00:04

Don't the extra pants make thrush more likely?!

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 25/10/2015 00:28

Don't think so Meow . Not in my case anyway.

MartinRohdesBellybuttonFluff · 25/10/2015 00:33

You need to buy a size bigger Itsbloodydarkoutside as other pp's have said.

I'm apple shaped and nothing beats that toe curling feeling of falling down tights with a rolling up top Halloween Angry

mayum1 · 25/10/2015 07:44

Yup buy bigger tights. They'd look more opaque too.

snicks1977 · 25/10/2015 12:41

Thank you queen potato I will be purchasing some thermal tights from M&S shortly :)

Let's give them a try!!

HelenF35 · 25/10/2015 13:13

I find primark ones the best. The 100 denier though, not keen on the others.

Obs2015 · 25/10/2015 13:43

M&S tights don't roll down on me.

Footle · 25/10/2015 13:50

This thread has reminded me why I wear trousers all the time.

Itsbloodydarkoutside · 25/10/2015 14:27

I already buy a size bigger! I'm short too, I'm only 5'4 so it's not like I need the extra length. I'll get some from M&S when I'm passing this week. Thanks for the tips ladies, I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem!

I have resorted to cutting the toes off all the ones without a turned heel and I wear them like footless tights, super comfy!
