Basic (cheap)!) wardrobe for new job

I'm due to start a new job in a school, after being at home with my children for the past 8 years. I really need to get some new clothes (other than the jeans I currently live in) but have very little money to spend. Can anyone recommend any decent staple items I should buy (and where from) to get me through the first few weeks before I get paid! Thanks.

Well I always think that sainsburys Tu range have nice work stuff, and normal stuff for that matter, and they're always priced reasonably, especially if you go when they have a 25% off special. Our local Sainsburys is huge though so I'm not sure if they have such a good range everywhere.
