Comfy, stylish, wide fit shoes. Do they exist?!?

Hi all.

I have wide feet and am looking for a new pair of shoes for work. I'm on my feet a lot at work (nurse) so they need to be comfy, non-slip, no heels etc. I'm no fashion-icon, but honestly all the wide-fit shoes I've seen look horribly granny-ish and ugly. To make matters harder, I'm veggie and try to avoid wearing leather in the main so that's adding an extra challenge. There must be somewhere? Please wise mumsnetters give me some pointers!

If you dont wear leather then try New Look wide.

Evans do wide fit and there are some nice loafers or nary-jane style flats you could try?

travailtotravel · 22/10/2015 20:27

I have found out the hard way that this is the one item to spend money on. I favour Gabor for wide, hardwearing and comfy. Some of them are leather though, so check.

Have you looked at the go walk options - there are some Mary Jane style ones

KitKat1985 · 22/10/2015 20:37

Thank you ladies - some good places to try here!

I tried on the navy suede marks and spencer ruched shoe/boots the other day. Wish I'd bought them.

they come in black leather too

F0xglove · 22/10/2015 20:44

Oh sorry, they're suede. Can't help you with non-leather suggestions.

KitKat1985 · 22/10/2015 20:46

No worries, thanks anyway Foxglove.

Clarke do wide fitting. They'll be good quality leather though..l

Next have a good range online for wide fit shoes. They are quite comfortable too, I always buy my boots from them.

Next have a great range of wide fit shoes online. Sometimes they are in the shops too but more variety online.

MilkyChops · 24/10/2015 09:43

Newlook and primark just for day to day shoes.

Not sure about work or walking shoes.

2nd Skechers go walk.

I'm a nurse too and tend to use Skechers a lot.

I got a lovely pair of retro hotter ( think downton abbey bar and heels in beige and brown) . I have skinny feet till iget somewhere hot then I have pigs trotters.

Mine were new in a charity shop but I have seen them in the shop in navy. ( and 3-4 times the price of mine!)

Methenyouplus4 · 24/10/2015 20:19

I was in Monsoon recently and found their shoes fit great for my wide feet, I could buy my actual size rather than going up just for the width. There was some shoes that were fabric but that was the back end of the summer.

Thank you. I've think I've found a nice pair on the Evans website (and not too expensive) so may try and order those. Thank you for all of your suggestions! Smile
