Loving my IPL

Don't really feel I can rave about this IRL. I got a Boots Smoothskin IPL a month ago and have been using it weekly since, and it has made so much difference. Have done armpits, bikini line, legs, and hairy hobbit toes and they are all so much improved. I am fair with dark hair so prime candidate for it to work well, and it has!

It was £270, I think, and I got a LOT of Advantage points to help with Christmas shopping.

I feel like maybe next year I will be largely free of the tyranny of hair maintenance. Such a huge relief.

Ooh I've just bought one, I'm worried about using it on my bikini line and underarms though as I've seen some anecdotal evidence online that those areas become more sweaty, permanently too so there's no going back, can you tell me if that's been your experience? Have you only used it 4 times then, and it's already working? Do you do your whole body in one go, once a week? Also I'm wondering how high to turn it up to - will it only work if it is actually a bit painful? I've got a really low pain threshold!

I've just bought an old style Philips lumea in clearance section of Boots for £87!

I use it on highest setting and having only used it 4 or 5 times can see vast improvement on legs in particular.

Bikini line is more sensitive but I wouldn't say painful, some zaps are like a split second of hot (!) heat.

Hm, wouldn't say I have noticed more sweatiness but I will keep a paranoid eye out for that now.

The Smoothskin gold automatically adjusts the strength of zaps based on your skin tone but you can have a gentle setting if the normal one is too much. I wouldn't describe it as painful though, not at all.

I sometimes do the whole lot in one go (takes less than an hour) and sometimes do it in two sessions. They recommend 12 weekly treatments and I considered just doing armpits first for 12 weeks... But I just don't want to have to think about it after these 12 weeks. Although I will prob have to do monthly top up treatments. Maybe.

Oops sorry, didn't mean to make you feel paranoid! My feeling is that people just notice sweat more as it's not absorbed by body hair. I'm sure you are fragrant as a rose, you would have noticed otherwise!

Oh, I was kidding! Forgot to put smiley. Grin
