m and s jeggings - wtf

Coastingit · 19/10/2015 22:58

I have two pairs bought last year I dark indigo and charcoal and they are hands down the best skinnies I have owned - they wash and wear brilliantly, perfect mid rise and skinny all the way to the ankle with great stretch and nice thick material.

So I popped in to get some more. And wtf? There are rows of coloured ones that aren't the same fabric, and the denim ones are now £29.50 and have ridiculous sparkly lining on the pockets?! They're actually taking the mickey, aren't they one of the best products in their fashion range? Why mess?

OP posts:

M&S clothing has become a complete shambles imo. They just can't seem to get it right, anything that has potential to look nice they either cut to a really frumpy unflattering style or they add random bits of sparkle or tassles. It's just a mess. Even the kids clothing is going the same way.

Only1scoop · 19/10/2015 23:17

I bought last years in gold ....burgundy and navy. Bloody love em.

JeffsanArsehole · 19/10/2015 23:19

They have them online

Not in my size though for the last 6 months

Etak15 · 19/10/2015 23:22

I was just thinking the same about m n s but about bras I want a two pack full cup t shirt bra have always bought them before but now they seem to have a bit of sticky out lace on which I don't want, and they are 1 black 1 white I have four dc's I don't wear anything white! Looks like I'll have to buy them seperate for double the price.

WaitroseEssentialPancetta · 20/10/2015 15:23

I went In there for jeggings yesterday too, don't know if I'm missing the point but I like jeggings to wear under tunics so the waistband isn't lumpy, the sparkly shit would defeat the purpose. Rest of the section was a total jumble sale, I could only find on pair my size in a disgusting colour. Tried them on but not worth £30.

Horsemad · 20/10/2015 15:37

I thought I saw some in store costing £22.50 the other day OP? They were black and charcoal.

WaitroseEssentialPancetta · 20/10/2015 21:34

The nice ones are 29.50 though. There are also some 19.50 ones but they look like maternity trousers. Can someone please tell me which are the ones to get?

SqueakyChicken · 20/10/2015 21:49

They still do the original ones. 5 pocket jeggings - 22.50.

Maidupmum · 20/10/2015 21:52

There's a 20% event coming up though

Horsemad · 21/10/2015 08:52

Are the £29.50 ones much nicer than the £22.50 ones then? I've only got one pair (the cheaper ones) and they are super comfy and strangely, much more flattering than skinnies - why is this? Confused

WaitroseEssentialPancetta · 21/10/2015 17:26

thanks maidupmum will you alert us when it happens? How do you know it's coming up?

Horsemad · 21/10/2015 18:51

Think there's one this w/e.

iwantgin · 21/10/2015 19:09

oh, I just bought some today. The £22.50 style.

I struggle with skinnies due to muscular calves - but these are perfect.

MarjorieWinklepicker · 21/10/2015 19:13

20% off friends and family weekend starts tomorrow. So if you know anyone with a coupon then grab one!

The 5 pocket jeggings are still £22.50, I have them in almost every colour. Love them.

BennyPoo · 21/10/2015 22:40

The code to gain the 20% discount online is OCT15A16. I got lots of vouchers for family and friends and they all have the same code as above. Valid from 22 to 26 October. I just hope you all find something you like! Not as easy as it sounds from M&S these days...

Lilipot15 · 21/10/2015 22:44

Oh no! I just spent loads in M and S yesterday! It is not a great shopping experience at the moment so I just can't face taking it back and reordering.
It was really hard to find anything in my size (14) and just not that inspiring.

ThoseAwfulCurtains · 21/10/2015 23:15

I went into M&S for the first time in ages on Saturday. Have they deliberately decided to make their clothes horrible?

WaitroseEssentialPancetta · 22/10/2015 09:29

Is it worth getting the jeggings in long rather than regular? I'm 5'8 and find the primark ones too short but then that's primark for you. Really don't want to go back to m&s.

Thank you for the code!

LumelaMme · 22/10/2015 09:53

I went in there the other day in search of a plain, unexciting, warm wool cardigan. They had some very nice cardigans, but they were a) cashmere and cost 3x my budget and b) in horrible colours. The ones in nicer colours were in a horrible fabric.

As for their trousers... if you have the sort of inside leg I have, there's no point even trying.

iwantgin · 22/10/2015 11:06

waitrose I am an inch taller than you - and generally would go for a long leg - but they didn't have any.

I have the medium leg - and they are just right. Longer would be too long for me. Not a good look when they are tight at the ankle ;)

AlisonWunderland · 22/10/2015 11:12

Ok- need some decent jeggings.

But online they all look the same.
Are these the nice ones or dreadful ones?

iwantgin · 22/10/2015 11:14

Those are the ones I bought yesterday.

Seem okay so far. bit tight though but that's my own fault

AlisonWunderland · 22/10/2015 11:34

I'm dithering between a hopeful 12 and a honest 14 ,so it looks like I should order a 14!

I've never worn jeggings, but I've recently bought a couple of really nice oversized batwing tops (honest- they are lovely!) but if I wear them with my usual straight leg trousers I look enormous. I think they need skinnies to balance the top out

Merrylegs · 22/10/2015 11:42

Yes yes the 22.50 ones are still 'in-store' (grr). I find the denim ones tend to come up longer and bigger and the coloured ones are shorter and skinnier fitting.

WaitroseEssentialPancetta · 22/10/2015 13:18

Alison where are the batwing tops from?

Ordering five pairs of jeggings but wondering whether to get a horrible cardigan too.
