(Bunch of heathens here). What do I wear? Is it sort of wedding-lite, frock and jacket but presume no hats? Or a smart daytime skirt and jacket? I have a lovely cocktail dress (knee length) but I think that is probably too much. On a scale of 1 (jeans) to 10 (ball gown), where do i pitch it?

It depends a lot on the church. I was in church yesterday and there was a baptism. Regular churchgoers were dressed perhaps 1-3 on your scale, baptism party perhaps 7-10! Can you ask anyone else who's going what they're wearing?

A day dress or skirt, or even smart trousers with a nice top if you prefer? Anything upward of jeans would be fine, really, unless they're very posh.
